Gents,
Have any of your heard of this Manufacturer? they have a pretty average website.... Doesn't really give too much information.... My dealer wants to use their product.

It's just an add-on sale. I've never kept my cars longer than 5 years max and the paint and leather have never been in such a bad condition that I've ever thought "Gee - I shoulda got the protection pack!" I had a mate who bought a new Toyota. They didn't even clean the car - they just sprayed the "paint protection" on. You could feel the dust and sand - now permanently bonded to the paintwork! |

Didnt take that option either as i couldn't see the value in the price they charge. I searched around on here to see what products people were using and it seemed Zaino was recommended by quite a few so I purchased a Zaino kit here in Melb.
It comes with everything from all different polishes for outside the vehicle including tyres etc. and interior protectants. I think the kit was $260 and that was last November and I still havent run out of any of the products. Easy to apply too! |

All these offers are BS in my mind. Oh - maybe the Ming fabric protection is worthwhile for families but otherwise just use a good wax and water.
You've even got relaxed water restrictions in Brisbane these days haven't you? Must be nice to be able to actually wash a car by hand. |

We don't have water restrictions as severe as you do...so it's Karcher high pressure cleaners all the way! Must admit I hate cleaning the 19" wheels.

There's something very satisfying about washing a car by hand. Over here it's car wash joints only. Mind you, you can go to the local machine wash place late at night with a bucket, fill it up with the hose and use that.
There's a sign that says it's not permitted but that's the operators and not regulation. |

Every car is going to get stone chips at some stage or another. I've already got them. All I do is go and get fleeced $40 or so for a little bottle of paint and sealer from BMW and touch up the chips.
On the original topic, I was going through some documentation tonight on a Hyundai i30 that I bought for one of my staff to use. In it was a pamphlet for DefensePak.....apart from the paint protection, leather protection and tinting there was mention of some electronic anti-rust gadget. What a heap of BS! Ships have these things to help stop/delay rust - but unless you intend on floating your car in salt water, I wouldn't waste my money. I did get the tinting though - that's mandatory in this country with the amount of sun we get. This is my honest opinion.........spend the money on some mod that improves your car's performance or make you feel good about the car. These superficial add-ons do nothing more than boost the dealer's margin. When you go to trade your car you won't get one $ more than market because you looked after the car. It just makes the car more attractive for the dealer to move to the next punter as they will trumpet the fact the previous owner looked after the car. |

I must admit I don't share the satisfaction! It's a job I really don't like. I have been known to back the car out of the garage on stormy days/nights just so it can get a bit of a wash!
It's the 19" rims that really bug me. They are so fiddly to clean. I have found that a good double coat of ArmorAll Wheel Protectant works well against brake dust build up. |

About the only time I move fast is when birds dump on the car. Apart from being unsightly the stuff can damage the finish if left.

Hmmm.... still not heavily closer to a decision.... thinking that I might stick with Tint and Leather protection.... leave paint protection...
