"M3's value set for a significant jump" hmmmm

Not sure I agree with the writer of this brief article. Maybe if you dump $$$ into mods it'll be worth more than stock. lol

I've been following Cars.com and Carmax. Basically at Carmax there isn't a huge change in inventory levels (39-41 cars) over the last few months. Only 4 2013s, 1-2012s, and 11 2011s, and more older (25 cars). There are 84K+ mile E46s with SMG for $20K on their website.

I'm not seeing prices dropping faster because of the new M3/M4. A well equipped 30K mile 2011 M3 is basically $48-50K and that is not changing much. There are plenty of buyers for NA engine with a manual transmission, and a M3 w/DCT is still more expensive than a 6 speed.

No way. These people that pick one aspect of a car and determine that to be the reason why it won't drop in price are crazy.

Yes, some of us like a N/A V8, I get it. It doesn't mean because cars are moving away from that model that they're suddenly worth more.

People want all kinds of things in a car, NEWNESS for one, speed, handling, reliability, fuel economy, etc. and the newer version delivers on all of those things. This is how all cars work across all makes and models (except for some limited production cars, exotics, etc).

I wish my car would spike in price, but lets not be naive here.

if the e9x M3 was a very limited run like the 1M than it would most likely rise in value in the future. But the e9x was mass produced. MAYBE in 20 years, when NA V8s are extinct and most e9x has been either crashed/trashed a pristine one could be worth some coin. Enjoy the car now, especially since parts and performance upgrades are getting cheaper

i think the E9x does have a lot going for it. last M3 coupe, BMW was using bespoke engines, last N/A engine etc... I think it will be a sought out car, but probably wont go up in value any time soon.

i agree with everyone saying the V8 last 2 door M3 will be valuable in the future. and its cool to see the upgrades start to come down in price. however we need this to accelerate. so. i need everyone to go out and crash or mod out of control your cars while mine stays pristine. thank you in advance

I doubt it will go up in value due to production numbers, but it should hold value quite well.

Last M with a bespoke engine, last M with a NA motor, only M3 with a V8, last M with a hydraulic steering rack, highest-revving M car, last two-door M3, etc.

I call BS.

The one and ONLY M3 that will ever keep going up in value is the E30 and E36 LTW (assuming you are in the US). Period. End of story.

The other ///M cars worth mentioning are the Z3M, Z4M and obviously the 1M.

i wouldn't say never. specially seeing how clearly we are never ever getting engines like this again. give it time. its to soon for you to understand. i am thinking like 30-40 years from now. once everything is a hybrid or a 2.0L turbo engine . People will want these type of cars.

carbuzz lol

Whomever wrote that doesn't know how to do basic research. 2008's are already into the low 30's. E46's are getting cheap, and E36's are Craiglist fodder.

Only E30's are holding value. So buy-m and drive-m.

I think a nice maintained e9x will never drop below $20k on the market.. once they all start getting clapped out, the value may rise. Production numbers on our cars are way lower than what the e46 M3 was.

the F80 doesn't really do much for me. Yes, it's better in every way, but I am the type of person to want to feel a connection and have more character out of my engine. Sure, the new engine is great spec wise, but it still leaves a gap for me.

And there will be plenty to chose from. Unless your car is an Individual or ridiculously low mileage (then why buy one?), then no, don't expect a huge jump.

That's not to say they won't be worth money. I don't see a decent one being $8000 in 15 years, but at the same time, you won't see the ridiculous rise in price the E30's are seeing.

This is posted all the time. E92 are 40k + and there are only 9,xxx E90 IN THE WORLD!!

Yes they will be worth something. I don't like Carbuzz article, but I am also licensed appraiser and follow the M market closely. This is not e30, but e46 have also started to rise and were cheaper @ 5 years ago than now. Still can find good deals but a quality car is catching some good coin. That being said, based on numbers alone the e90 will hold a very strong value in the near future.
