Question about [lack of] clamp for air filter

Random question, does anyone know why the air filter isn't attached to the piping with clamps? It's just pressed against it. I assume it's not an air tight seal between the filter and pipe?

I attached some pics in case people have no idea what i'm talking about

There is a clamp that connects the adapter to the elbow but no clamp connecting the adapter to the filter. You can see in one of the pics where i'm pointing at the gap.

Yah I know its spring loaded, I was just wondering if the pressure from the spring was enough to form a good seal. Although I guess it's a rhetorically question since if they released it like that the engineers must of deemed it sufficient.

I just find it odd because a clamp would have been the simpler and more secure method.

The filter is pretty locked in there. Removing and replacing it every time I clean the filter is a pain in the ass. You have to remove the whole intake pipe to get it loose. The seal is fine, no need to clamp it down given the way it is wedged in.

I've also noticed that the stock filter seems to fit more snuggly than aftermarket filters in the airbox.
