Sizing up rear tires

What is the recommended up sized rear tire for 18inch wheels from the factory? Tire choices are limited for 265-40-18.

I like to track my car at thenurburgring and the PS2 are way to expensive for a mediocore tire. I would prefer bridgestone, yokohama, Pirelli.

What are your thoughts for upsized factory 18's I drive the car hard and don't want any rubbing issues or use of spacers.

Local track junkies prefers Advan Neovas AD08 produced by Yokohama for its ability to handle heat and wears nicely under hard driving. Breaking away is also relatively gradual so no surprises there too. Not too sure about sizing.

True, PS2s are expensive, but are far from mediocre, unless you compared to comps or semi-comps. Everything is a tradeoff, so if long life is not an issue there are probably better options.

Maybe mediocore is a bad choice of word. The PS2 performs well but wear is awfull, and if the track is damph all the performance is lost as confidence is greatly reduced. On my old M3 I ran Bridgestone RE05 and they were awsome in dry and damph with much better wear than the PS2. I see alot of the Porsche GT3 running Toyo R888 they look like a semi slick with cut grooves. But can some one please recommend an upsized tire for the E-90 M3. Has anybody tried 275-35-18 or 285-30-18 there are some more tire choices for these sizes. My car has 6500KM and im on my second set of rears. I plan on changing all 4 here soon. June 15th the Nurburgring has an open track day on the GP strecke 30 euro for 20 minutes. I sure would like to try a different tire on this track it has a lot smoother surface than the North loop.

So if you have any expierences with different sized rear tires and recommend a decent brand please let me know thanks.

I say go with 275/40/18. I think it looks better and the fatter sidewall can't hurt. I'd only goto a 35 series if you're going 295+.
