Let the discounting begin!

Since the M3's haven't been selling like everyone thought they would dealers are starting to discount them.

500 off msrp
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-M...spagenameZWDVW

2000 off msrp
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-M...spagenameZWDVW

Coupes will be next, My buddy works at Moritz BMW in Arlington and he told me they have only sold one so far (ordered by a customer and he got 750 off his coupe).

Those cars have almost 50 miles on them. The discount should be just for that! I picked my car up with less than 3 miles on it.

The $2000 off listing was already listed on the forum. If you look at the sticker on the car and their starting bid price, they are selling at MSRP.

There will be discounts if you wait - it also depends on where you are located.

I know the listing starts at 2000 off msrp but I've been noticing not many m3's have been selling or even being bid on ebay, I thought about getting one but the leasing terms are absolutely shitty

Personally, I would prefer a car that has not been driven, and to me, if someone wants one right now, it's worth it to pay sticker for a car that has not been driven. As others have pointed out, people who are definitely buying also seem to be willing to wait for specific orders. My dealer just happened to have exactly what I wanted so I went ahead and got one instead of waiting.

The sedan for $500 off MSRP also has a mandatory $499 documentation fee, so I view that as $1 off MSRP...

If you want that old beater, sure. Ordering a car? Different story.

I think Laszlo is absolutely right! The discounts will show up in the summer months. My M3 is being delivered tomorrow and I'm almost tempted to wait till the end of the year to get one!

If you want a huge deal, wait until the end of year deals.

There will be some M3's still on some lots and dealers will be giving great deals.

This also goes for the 135i. The highly optioned 135i's will still be on the lot at the end of the year. Should expect large discounts.

But nothing like the $14-15k off msrp for the 07 M coupes. They are practically trying to give those away.

This basically goes for any car, any brand.

Discounts are getting bigger on UK M3s (up to £1700 off base price). Then again, our prices are more inflated so there is more room to discount than in the US. Look at this broker's site: http://www.autoebid.com/carDetails.asp?locator=37230 The BMW dealers themselves are still refusing to give any discount on M3s (well at least in my area).

Are people that can afford $70k cars affected by this recession in general?

Generally I would say 'No', however, there are the enthusiasts that need to stretch for any given price point in a niche product such as this. (I consider myself one of them).

I believe the 125-150 annual income folks evaluate whether it makes 'sense' in this economy. Those above and beyond that, probably no sweat.

Yeah, when the stock market tanks, that's because those living in poverty are concerned about the economy... /sarcasm.
