Exclamation Does the Powertrain plus cover DCT?

Am confused by exactly do they cover here as far as the DCT goes? Looks like they cover the DCT but not the clutch is it even worth getting the warranty if it doesn't cover the DCT clutch? Not sure what goes wrong on the DCT if at all? Does the gold cove the DCT 100%?

Feedback appreciated. thanks.

Automatic/Standard Transmission including Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) and Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT):
Transmission case, torque converter, all internally lubricated parts contained within the transmission case including: all sprockets, shaft bearings, bushings, drums, pumps and valves. Transmission mount; flywheel; drive plate for torque converter.

Coverage is not afforded for standard/SMG/DCT transmission clutch assemblies, which are subject to wear and tear.

As the literature says, it does not cover the clutches as they are considered wear and tear items. Same thing for manual transmissions.

Unless abused, the clutches will likely last a very long time.

If you are referring to BMWNA's Powertrain Plus (some of the third party sellers - including Fidelity - also refer to their packages as Powertrain or Powertrain Plus), then M-DCT is explicitly covered except for the internal clutch assemblies in BMWNA's Powertrain Plus package. Go here and download the brochure;

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...rotection.aspx

Good luck!

Unless abused as you said, unless the car see regular track days same applies to the MT then clutch and several other issues might surface ... I'm thinking

My former e46 2002 now over 100000 miles (I'm still in touch with the new owner) never seen the track, never had engine or clutch issues.

In the UK this version of the extended warranty has a claim limit of £5k so not much use if the motor gives up.
