That's because every single 911 chassis Porsche gets better gas mileage than M3s. Only the GT3/RS are very close at 14/21. And Ferrari's are not daily drivers so no one should even look at MPG on those cars. I'm all for power and good mpg as long as whatever I'm shopping or driving is a daily driver.
But I agree. If you buy an M and whine about gas consumption, you're in it for the wrong reasons.

are you going by the mpg on the porsche website?
cuz those look very suspicious
they all have 25mpg, irrespective of engine size!
the 345hp has the same mpg as the 385hp one, which is the same as the 405hp
and the 2wd is the same as the 4wd
the coupe is the same as the cabriolet??

or a BMW motorcycle for + mpg

Recently a survey arrived in my mailbox. One of the questions was "What would the price of a gallon of gasoline have to be before you would consider a hybrid or other alternative fuel source vehicle?" The answer options ranged from $3/g to More than $20/g. I checked "More than $20/g". It isn't that I despise the alternative fuel source vehicles: Gasoline burning vehicles are my preference.

Back on topic: No one knows for certain what will be the effect of the introduction of FI to the M3 model on the price of E9x M3, and I really don't care, but will suggest that in the short term prices will drop as they normally do whereas over the long term, the nostalgia factor will eventually kick in to add to the neverending appreciation that some of us already have for the last of the NA M3 motors to push prices back up to some degree. Over time, a fully documented pristine E9x M3 will command a steep price in a market where the demand exceeds the supply.
