Premium sound or not

Hey guys

Is the premium sound option that much better than the stock BMW system?

If, and only if you tune it properly. Proper EQ settings combined with surround, a little fade, and the bass turned up a bit will lead to one of the best factory stereos you've ever heard. However, don't expect booming bass. It won't hit like a pair of 10's or 12's, but it'll be super clear to ridiculous levels.

100% worth it. I've driven/ridden in BMWs without it, and it's such a huge let down for a vehicle costing as much. If you listen to music at any time while driving, than yes, get it, or you'll regret it.

I think get it or like everyone else says, you will regret it.
Me, I barely listen to music in the car....I like listening to the engine and the shifts. Long drives, then yes music!

I love my premium sound system.

The bass isn't very deep, but it is punchy and accurate.

The mids and highs are great!

I have owned e92 with and without. Here's my opinion. If you are ordering car new, no doubt include the premium. If you are shopping used for the perfect car, do not let non-premium sound turn you off to a car that has all other options. It is good, but not that good.

Like another member said, I also listen to my engine more than my stereo.

However, when I do listen to music, the premium package is definitely worth it, IMO.

My order is without premium sound. Anything will be an upgrade over my crap 4 speakers I have now. I test drove a few cars with the upgrade and until you crank it up, it seemed pretty standard. I'm buying this car for the v8, not the stereo. If money were no object though, of course I would get it.

Yup - definetely worth it...i got my car used so I wanted to have all options (which are very pricey new)...noticed the dif when I had a loaner 328. Definitely a much fuller sound, totally sufficient unless you want crazy bass or something.

I like my EPS. I wouldn't consider it true automotive hi-fidelity, by any stretch. But it is enjoyable.

I know a lot of knowledgeable guys around here can update the stock system with premium components and get a real improvement. I can definitely appreciate the efforts, as I have a pretty serious 2ch system at the house. However, I'm just not a fan of ripping up proprietary wiring and components and adding stuff to the trunk. I don't need to rattle teeth with bass.

Yeah, I had a loaner 2011 328i and the stock system was total garbage. Just bass and treble controls. Couldn't get any kind of decent sound out of that thing at all.

you can get much better sound with an upgraded HIFI than the EPS
BUT
that means removing the door panels, rear trunk trim, running wires all over the place
EPS gives you 95% of the quality, without undoing a single screw
add a trunk sub to the EPS (like i did) and it sounds fantastic
i've owned HIFI, upgraded HIFI with JBL MS-8, amps, speaker upgrades ets
and i've had the EPS then EPS with trunk sub
EPS with trunk sub is the best sounding of all of them
