I got my recall letter last week as well, but I had actually performed the update to 31.2.0.6 before I got the letter. The verdict is that the hesitation/lag is still present. I can reproduce the problem at will. Simply drive in D mode (I use D3) and slow down the the brake as if you were approachign a stop sign. Before you come to a complete stop, press the gas pedal lightly and you'll find you will not go anywhere for about a second, until the clutch hooks up and you suddenly accelerate unwantingly.

you can also press the gas pedal to the floor, not just lightly, and the engine RPMs and transmission engagement both will still lag for a full second.

please excuse me since i havent had a chance to actually drive a dct, but the maserati's cambiocorsa always had a lag before engaging, and was pretty much just an issue with the technology. if there was ever a small window of opportunity to make a quick turn i would never do it because sometimes the lag was pretty significant at the risk of getting t-ed. i guess what im asking is how is everyone assuming that it's a programming error and not something endemic to the technology?

Poopie, I've also posted similar lag experiences with other drive-by-wire trannies. But others don't have it nearly as bad... so am not sure it's purely inherent with dbw.

I don't understand, I thought even with the new software the stalling issue is still present?
So there will just be another recall down the line? |

To answer your question, the original software didn't have that problem (there was a problem in the manual mode not shifting to the 2nd gear after hard braking). The problem started in the 31.1 version and above. I rarely drive in D mode so it don't affect me that much but it is still a problem (my wife only drives in D mode - that is the problem). I hope they can fix this nuisance before something bad happens. |

I had the 31.1 update as well. Called dealer and they said there were no open campaigns. Also called bmw na and they said the 31.2 update was simply made an official recall and that my car didn't need further updates at this time. Mine was an August build. Not sure whats up with this 31.2? My lag/hesitation is worse. Based on other post, it appears that the so called 31.2 has not resolved the issue either.

In above post I meant to say that the 31.1 update covered the problem for which the car was recalled. He was unaware of any 31.2. |

I had mine reprogrammed about 10 days ago, and just received the letter yesterday, I'm having the exact same issue as FRANKZLIN79 explained above. I hope there is another version that fixes this, car is scheduled for a Dr. Visit tommorrow i'll ask what version was loaded before.

I have mine in for the software update and they called @ 10am and said it will take them 11 HOURS to complete and they'll need the car for another day. Anyone else here of such a long wait for the update? Or were they bullchitting me?
