Wow! Those cars spent half their laps off-track! I didn't realize how forgiving the Glen can be! Seriously, if NASCAR made their season half road courses, I would be a huge fan - that race was fantastic!

Curious. Don't they have any rules against gaining an advantage by leaving the racetrack?

They were not in the spectator area dodging campers so it was fair game

In other series such as Formula 1 they take a grim view of anyone gaining an advantage by leaving the racetrack. In fact sebastian vettel was penalized very recently for the exact same thing. And lewis hamilton was stripped of a race victory back in 2008 also for the same infraction. And deliberately bumping your opponent out of the way is also a big no no. I guess nascar, being american, has less emphasis on courtesy and good behaviour and more about cowboyism and machismo.

The close racing in F1 this year has been a manufactured drama with the tire dramas & the DRS which creates passing opportunities that would not exist otherwise.Do not get me wrong,I love F1 but racing like we saw yesterday is what automobile racing is about. The fact that the 2 main combatants yesterday have huge mutual respect for each other when it was over, just makes it that much better.IMO
