Shipping and insurace!
Refills end up costing between $200-300 when all said and done. But take into account its a 22oz tub of wax (normally waxes are between 6-8 oz). |

overpriced wax and overrated customer service...
I hear its a 3-5 week turnaround...you can only use the wax on your own car, they will keep it if you seemingly "run a business". as marc said, hardly worth it at 300 for a "free refill" put p21s 100%, pinnacle souveran, or even natty's blue next to the vintage and see if you can justify the insane price |

Tried vintage this week on a friend's car (his wax also), did same prep I do on my car which is topped with p21s. Both cars are AW BMWs, I couldn't tell any difference. I actually think OCW looks better on AW, more pop.

well one of the reason I love zymol is because of the way the water beads on the paint. I know there is not a big difference on looks, but the way it makes the car paint waterproof you just have to see it to believe it.
After 2 or 3 coats I can dry my car with a hose (using zymol concours) without the need to pick up a towel. I am assuming vintage is even better due to the higher and more refined carnauba content any thoughts? |

Surface beading depends on friction, blackfire sealant sheets better than any carnuba I've seen. Use something like FK 425 quick detailer after a wash and you will also get very tight water beads. Its hard for me to justify 2k wax compared to $50 wax solely on beading. But use what you like there is nothing wrong with zymol.

Good point, but take into account that all good waxes will bead very well. "Water sheeting" is the method you mentioned for helping to dry your car. You can find youtube videos of it being done with many different products. I can't say Vintage isn't worth the price - what's worth the price depends of the person. Some people might think a used Hyundai Accent is worth $2k. I wouldn't spend $200 on one though - so that means it's not worth it's price TO ME. With Vintage you get a very nice product, a large amount of it (22oz versus the standard 6-8), and refills that cost 200-300 bucks. You can sell samples of vintage for more than that. There's nothing wrong with purchasing some luxury products for your car IMHO. Just realize what you're getting and be realistic. I find it funny how car enthusiasts balk at the $2,200 price of Zymol Vintage, but somehow think a Ferrari is really worth $200k+ . You really think a $300k Ferrari is 4x faster / better performance than an Aerial Atom? Or how about my favorite comparison between two vehicles that seat two people and run sub 10 second 1/4 mile times: $250,000: Brand new Lamborghini Gallardo with a Twin-Turbo kit installed $14,000: Brand new Suzuki Hayabusa Does this mean the Lamborghini is a rip-off? Is the Lamborghini not worth the price / overrated / a dumb purchase? |
