I don't want to sound mean but before I considered an M3, I called up my insurance company and got a quote to see if the rates were very different.

Actually, i was paying more for my 335i before than my M3. It depends probably in the history and how much experience the driver has.

wtf is this right? I know there's different levels of coverage but I pay: $67 a month for comprehensive coverage through State Farm.

Yes $67, not a typo, not $670.

I live in DC metro area.
28 years old
2 speeding tickets in last 12 years
0 accidents.
1 windshield claim with State Farm

wow! that's mad cheap! I hope the car does not get into an accident though. I wouldn't want to drive an M without a full coverage insurance.

Another update:

Spoke to friend of mine,- she is an insurance biller, knows it all in and out. I told her my Geico story, and she was not even surprized. She said she also had Geico, and while being insured she made ONE CLAIM. When she wanted to renew her Geico policy,- she was simply denied. Not like myself, being offered astronomical policy $1131/m which would most definitely make me go else where, but... she was denied for making a claim. I also made 2 claims with Geico while being insured. One claim I made, was Stone Chip in Windshield and the Other claim I made was for the blown front tires.

You see, - Geico wants you to pay for policy, but if you even remotely think of making claims,- they do not want you. And that is the reason I got offered $1131/m for policy.
Now we know,- Geico only works one way, like a money machine... money goes in, does not go out.

Seeing Geico gekko and cave man commercials makes me

mines very similar except the limits are a little higher, 350K / 500K (there's too many bentleys and rolls royces in my neighborhood I ain't taking any chances, lol) and I even have $60 per day for rental car coverage for up to 60 months a year, and I bitch about paying $112 a month...

my motorcycle with the same coverage was only $23 a month, lol...

I have Geico for my 2011 M3 and pay $921/6months (300/100/50 - 250 deductible) . I'm 28, and live in the city of Chicago. Had all my bimmers with Geico and absolutly love their service, had State Farm before and they did not want to pay the bills after got broken into the car, would never do state farm.

I was going to suggest Esurance. I'm surprised to see them so high. They are dirt cheap for me, and were great to work with when my girlfriend's car was totaled last year. I was surprised that they had good claims service even though they are so cheap. Guess they aren't cheap in every state, though!

Well... I have no reason to have high premiums on car insurance,- never had any driving infractions or violations or accidents. Credit is good etc,... Had my license since 1993... THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH GEICO and such... I made 2 (two) small claims in 2008, stone chip windshield replacement, and 2 (two) blown tires replaced,- these are the only reasons Geico is dumping me with super high premium. I also had dirt cheap premium with GEICO, that is untill I made a claim.

PROGRESSIVE proved it today,- Brooklyn rates and 6 months lapse in coverage claimed by GEICO as the reasons for very high premium is simply BS.

ENJOY YOUR LOW PREMIUMS WITH GEICO, BUT BE WARE,- IF YOU MAKE A SINGLE CLAIM, THAT WILL BE THE END OF IT.

(sure Geico will pay for your claim with lightning speed, but you will never be able to renew your policy if you ever get it interrupted... exactly what happened in my case...)

dimabimmer, your ins. rate is ridiculous for someone that's almost 40.

I just turned 29...and I'm paying around $1200/yr for my Z4M, and it's full coverage, $100,000/$300,000, and I live in So. Cal.

I doubt I'll be paying much more for my M3 this coming September.

$322 is high indeed but not when compared with $1131/m that Geico gave me! What clowns they are

...have to find some "defensive driving class" to get discount,- going to try to get into a $200/m range. If I could do that and more and save $100 every month,- that would be absolutely awesome!

Yeah, pretty much all insurance companies are like that. They love you until the day you make a claim. Then you are a leper and they want no part of you going forward. Insurance companies in general are the biggest crooks on planet earth. That premium that Geico wanted you to pay is a joke.
