I vote for coupe. also it weighs less, has CF option, and the chassis will be more rigid.

but the Sedan still looks REALLY good and its awesome they brought it back. I had a 98 M3/4 for two years - awesome car.

actually the sedan chassis is probably more rigid than the coupe like it was in the e46.

That is not right. Can someone post the stiffness increase in the coupe. It was significant.

Sorry, should have been more specific. I meant keep the vote to looks. To fairly represent the topic, once should not vote sedan because 4 doors are needed in their life.

The discussion will go all over the place anyway.

i dont find the sedan appealing at all. maybe if they put blacklines i'll accept the looks. im glad they put the coupe face on it for sure.
i dont understand sedans, im not a sedan person, never. at least i dont understand making sport cars out of sedans, that's like an oxymoron.

additional BS from me: i sat in a coupe and in a sedan, i just couldnt get a comfortable position in a sedan for shifting, sitting. im just not used to it. i sat in a coupe and sure enough the shifter was at the perfect position from my hand, seat position is perfect, everything is just appealing to me.

Well, the E90 and E92 M3 are very nearly the same size. The coupe is longer but the sedan is wider. Sedan gains about 25 lbs. and a bit more room in the back seat. This is less than 1% weight gain. So the only real difference, other than somewhat subtle styling cues (and the CFRP roof), is that the sedan has two more doors. I think of it as the same car as the coupe with more of the sides cut out to get into the back seats.

looks alone. I think the rear of the coupe looks better. it also sits about 2 inches lower and that looks better IMO. I also think the "swoop" down the side that originates with the fender vent flows much better in the coupe.

Looks wise the Coupe wins IMO - although the sedan is nowhere near ugly - it looks great too.

What is it about the rear that everyone hates on the sedan? I don't like the looks of the lights on the coupe. They are like upside down E46 lights, and I didn't care much for those either. I prefer the looks of rear of the sedan over that of the coupe.

I agree that the coupe has a more "flowing" shape. But the sedan looks more muscular. I believe someone compared the coupe to a long distance runner and the sedan to a bodybuilder. This seems to be appropriate, but not to that extent. If we're talking shape I can think of many other cars I like better, e.g. an E30 M3. All in all though, I'd take either the coupe or sedan and be more than happy.

The Sedan has really been growing on me but the coupe is the ultimate.

I think the coupe looks much better. The M3 front end just doesn't mesh well with the sedan body and rear end as well as it does with the coupe.

other day went to see a sedan and it was parked next to 335i sedan. The M3 did indeed looks very muscular and mini M5 on steroids. a world of difference vs normal 3 series. I am getting the sedan but admittedly the tail lights/ rear is not as good as coupe....though getting used to the M3 sedan more and more though -looks very aggressive. Apart from the engine the looks also sold me....

Agree with the flowing vs mean. Looking side by side, the sedans rear is chunky. The roof goes down sharper vs flowing and the trunk lid is higher adding more bulk to the rear end. For a performance GT, many want sexy. But hey, fat bottomed girls you make the rockin' world go round.
