When I was 18; I got an Z4,2.0 for my birthday and I got alot of jealous comment, can't imagine what your life should look like from now on
Im 21 noww and I got my M for 4 months now... You just need to learn to drive it. Go on a abandoned road with your dad ( not friends for god sake) and try to get to know the power. It is no normal car! Be safe, dont overdo the speed limits and do not accelerate to much in corners. Congratz, and bless parents who buy those cars for their kids ( like mine) |

If the parents didnt trust/know their son, they would definitly not give him the car. It was like that with my parents... And maybe you weren't all that smart and responsible on the road? |

This is a liability for this kid's father. This kid's dad is obviously made out of money or crazy. Better yet his dad should have got him a Ferrari. He could have broken $1500 on the insurance payment. His insurance payment is most certainly around $600-700/ month, maybe even $1000. What do you guys think the payment is?

My great aunt was married to the president of Dupont. They purchased their 16 year old son a high powered sports car when he turned 16, and he died in a crash shortly thereafter. Regardless of how responsible one is, the 16-20 journey is one in which a lot of changes occur. Owning a near race car may not be in your best interest.
The other concern I would have if you were my child is whether giving you this now actually reduces your pleasure in the long run. Going forward you will be lucky to get incremental performance gains even if you spend a lot more money. And a lot of the fun is the anticipation and having worked hard for something and then enjoying it. In spite of the above concerns I suspect you will do just fine. Enjoy the car.

Congratz! I think it is great that you got it for your 16th birthday... I got my 92 m3 coupe for my 17th B day . Its a great car but watch out for dsc off and mdm even in dry conditions especially when it is cold out. I have had 2 scenarios with mdm on and my tail flew out unexpected which is pretty scary. Luckily no one was around in either instance.
