I'd think that's something a body shop or auto glass installer would do... not a dealership. This kind of detailed work requires someone with lots of experience installing it.

OP - make the dealer fix it. If they won't, dispute the charge with your cc company.

For others considering it. I had my chrome trim professionally wrapped in matte black vinyl - $300. Looks great and no risk of leaking.

Wow the black trim looks really good. The chrome trim was One of the reasons I disliked the look of the verts.

1) If they repaint anything it will hurt the resale significantly.
2) A couple of people on bimmerfest.com had E93s lemoned because of leaking. There experience was the delership couldn't fix it. I had an '09 that never leaked.

That's why I wrapped mine in gloss black...BMW dealer told that putting the shadow line would be a PIA...and that some water or noises would come around!

Sorry but your dealer did a really bad work! Make them fix it! You paid for a new flawless car and you must have it!

When I bought my M E93 it also came with that nasty chrome trim.... I had mine done too. They did a great job. Although as said I did get some water leaks after a few months. But this was due to the rubbers going extra dry. I was told to try using vasaline to soften the rubbers so they expand..... didnt work.
I was then told to try SwissVax Seal Feed..... which works great... no leaks.

As for your scratches... the dealers need to get there shit together and check customers cars before they leave.

Sorry to hear. I had my trim wrapped in gloss black as well instead of changing the trim. Looks much better than the chrome and I can take it off whenever I want.

It was a while back but I believe I paid almost £1000 inc install and taxes.
My car was out for 2days. Although it had to go back because they scratched the trunk and left black sealant all over my seats. This was all resolved in another 2 days.
I will try taking pics later on. Any parts you want taken in particular?

Thank you so much ...
Goodness they had my car in for almost 2 weeks.
yes i am interested on how it looks where the rubber parts are....how they cover the trim when the hood is closed and how they are aligned...and the look behind the trim (the drain area) Mine has sealant in it... and i hate for them to tell me that it is by design. Hopefully your pictures show that it can be done right without it. Thanks for your help in this matter.

That is scary to know that this all is on the back of the owner to carry its consequences of a sloppy work done. Surely not fair.

Likely true.... but warranty matters... and if its done outside by non BMW and there is a Hardtop Issue. I hate for them to say we wont cover it as it was worked on by someone else.

Yeah in fact chrome looks better on the overalll color range they offer.
But they do offer the Black shadowline as an option. Just the BMWUS
does not give you the option here in the us on an M3.

But BMW itself (Germany) does have the option available (S0760)

My lesson next time buying a nice car like M3, check it very carefully, any issues at all let them fix it before deliver. Or else just walk. The dealer has been more of a pain in the ass that anything. Thank god VOB BMW is out of bussiness. They sold to Rockville BMW. I don't go back there anymore.
