How long from preparation center to dealer?

How long does it usually take to go from the Prep Center to the Dealership and be ready for me to pick it up?

Thanks and sorry if it has been discussed before I searched and coult not find an answer.

I've read something like two days in the Ultimate Order Guide thread.

I talk to my SA today and he told me it can really depend on if the car is in the front of the ship to the rear that will add on the wait time. That and where you are located for freight.

Having recently bought an M3, from what I can see, it depends.

First thing is that cars that are ED have to go through customs and that slows them down significantly. I believe new cars are all cleared while on the boat. I Also understand that cars that are ordered (P1 sold) have priority getting through the VPC. Once it's past that, it's up to the trucking company and the dealership to get the car to you.

I was extremely lucky, the boat my car was on arrived into port Hueneme on the morning of the 19th, arrived at my dealership very late evening of the 20th and I took delivery of the car on the 21st.

Whoa. You're making me even more antsy than I already am waiting for my car!! My car is supposed to be at the port by the 24th and I hope my turn around is two days as well. What dealer did you order from?

If the car is already in sold status, the VPC will make every effort to get the car through final prep in 2 days or less. Most of the time they are successful in meeting that target.

Is it a ED car? If not, I would call your CA and have him investigate. Frankly, that timeframe is not a good sign in my opinion. If a car is already in sold status and is still at the VPC (again, assuming non ED), then there was likely some damage to the car during transport. There is no other reason that a sold car should be at the VPC for that long.

If it is an ED car, then likely there is the normal custom delay.

It is an ED. But my CA told me the car was out of customs and at VPC. So yes I am worried something happened to it. CA claims he is in the dark too since he apparently can't contact VPC.

Other ED buyers from the forum that we on the same vessel already took delivery of their cars.

If there is any damage to the car, the VPC is required to notify the dealer if the repair costs exceeds 3% of the car's value (can't remember if that is based on invoice or MSRP). Either way, best of luck...I would be pissed if they damaged my car during transport.

It took mine about a week to get to the dealer after it hit the Prep Center.

Check my sig... it took 1 day from ship to truck... very very fast.

I actually saw the ship Fidelio my M3 was on entering the NY/NJ Harbor at 6:30 AM... I call my CA next morning, he checks and tells me my M3 is on the truck on it's way to showroom...

Well that did not take long. They said it would be at the dealership tomorrow. So that took 2-3 days.

My car arrives on 9/1, so hopefully it won't take two more weeks after that to get to my dealership.
