Easiest free exhaust mod ever

So I had to haul some stuff in my M today so folded down the rear seats. Have a catless x-pipe with oem rear. Car sounded like an ANIMAL!! Louder, raw and screaming exhaust note. Obviously more sound transmitted through the opening. Cool thing it had no drone or any other bad sound when cruising other than a bit of road noise but when you stepped on it, with the windows up (otherwise the open windows dominated the sound, the car was awesome. For kicks I closed the bigger portion of the rear seat and left the passenger rear open. It was a bit quieter so its like another level if you want more sound but not as much.

This is how "active" sound should be rather than fake sound, more of the actual exhaust note into the cabin as it sounds ridiculous. Had a blast all day driving with this and going to leave it like this for awhile to enjoy the screaming exhaust note!

Rolling the windows down works too.

If you leave your rear seats down for extended periods you will get indentions in them from the seat belt receptacles. Best to just take out the seat.

This is true, I always put a towel in-between to distribute the pressure.

Good idea, so long as you don't have your M3Post friends sitting in the back seat...

Take the rear seat out... the bottom pops out in under a minute and I bet you'll hear more sound there than anywhere else.

Don't do it then lol. Anyone who wants to try it, it is easy and actually gives a whole new experience. Really added a raw sound, atleast with a catless setup.

Benvo sounds like biz is slow as you have way too much time to post for a guy who has any busy business

A one inch hole saw into the muffler section will make some extra noise also. that's free. Start with one and keep going until you like it.

If only BMW Engineers could design some sort of speaker system to bring exhaust noise into the cabin.....

You seem to come to these profound conclusions pretty often.

Others might not know, but it's clear to me from the way that you carry yourself that you are M3TakesNYC and Munit.

This is your third user name. Between the three you've started more threads in a year than I have in 5 years.

Shucks... I should get back to work now

PS: Lute, love the image.. but then again you usually don't disappoint with them!
