✪ Alekshop | ESS VT2-600 Dyno Results: 516whp, 330wtq @ 6.50 PSI

We just finished installing VT2-600 upgrade kit on "Daily Driver" and decided to dyno the car afterwards.

Here is what we got on the DynoJet @ Specialty Z

Car and Modifications:
  • 2011 BMW M3
  • ESS VT2-600 Supercharger
  • 6.50 PSI Boost*
  • 97mm Supercharger Pulley
  • Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust
  • 200 CEL High Flow CAT
  • DCT
  • 91 Octane
* Static boost pressure at the dyno was -0.63 PSI. This means an extra +0.63 PSI was added to all boost readings used to calculate average boost.

Conditions:
  • Temparature:: 83.47 degrees F
  • Atmospheric pressure: 29.22 inHg
  • Humidity: 9%
  • SAE Correction: 1.01
  • STD Correction: 1.03
  • Uncorrected: 1.000
Results:
  • SAE Corrected: 516whp @ 8330 RPM, 330wtq @ 7410 RPM
  • STD Corrected: 527whp, 337wtq
  • Uncorrected: 510whp, 326wtq
Dyno Database:Individual Dyno Results:

The legend below has the following meaning:
  • Dyno Run: Dyno run file
  • Boost Avg: Boost calculated using trend line. This is the "official" boost for this dyno run.
  • Boost Peak: Peak boost observed on this dyno run.
  • Temp(F) = Temperature (Farenheit)
  • RelH = Relative Humidity
  • Pressure(Hg) = Barometric Pressure
  • DA(ft) = Density Altitude
  • WHP(unc) = Uncorrected wheel horsepower
  • WTQ(unc) = Uncorrected wheel torque
  • WHP(SAEd) = SAE Corrected Horsepower using Dynojet weather station.
  • WTQ(SAEd) = SAE Corrected Torque using Dynojet weather station.

Great collection of data by PG as always.

Thanks for sharing.

Just to point out, there was a typo on that chart for WHP(SAEd). It says 328.7, which I assume should be 528.7

This result seems a little low for a car with a higher flow midpipe and rear exhaust. Any idea why? There is one ESS VT-535 out there with a 99mm blower pulley and similar mods that has done just as well as this VT-600. Any idea why? 91 octane? The presence of cats even if high flow aftermarket units?

Actually the results are correct considering the addition of the exhaust. We rate the VT2-600 on a dynojet with 91 octane @ 590-610 chp. Factor in the average 15% drivetrain loss and the car should make around 500-520 whp with the stock exhaust depending on fuel quality. High flow cat exhaust systems typically add about 15 whp so I would expect this car to make somewhere between 515-535 whp on a dynojet depending on fuel quality. M3's always make max power on the dyno after you have warmed them up and have done a few pulls. Looking at the run numbers on this car there was a power increase after the first few pulls as expected. Once warmed up this car was making about 525-530 whp which is pretty much spot on.

For reference this is our dyno chart for the VT2-600.

I guess ESS has exceeded expectations so many times that higher numbers seem common. This VT-535 is doing really well, for example:

All cars and exhaust setups are different and will net different results when tested. We have seen many cars that have exceeded what we have been able to duplicate on our dyno and that is one example. It is great when it happens but should not be expected as the standard as there are many variables that go into the power a car makes on a dyno. Our goal is to make sure our customers cars make our advertised rated gains over stock given similar testing conditions.

i'm always telling folks my car is like an anomaly... not to be taken as the standard ... same pulley as my buddy's car and i still make more power at the same exact dyno on the same day (maybe an hour and a half apart). only difference between us is that i have a different exhaust set-up. though cars are built at factories, from what i've noticed, different cars will make different power... i don't know why but that's just what i've noticed

Do you have any feedback from past customers/experience on the effects of a SC to a newer M3 (E90 in my case) engine for a prolonged timeframe (3+ years). I am pretty set on putting an ESS low pressure kit (stage 1) in my new E90, but am weary about stressing an already high revving engine for my daily driver over the next 3 years.

Are u talking about wanting to raise the rev limiter? Then get a tune.

Find a dyno operator worth its salt.

Past the rev limiter? you could get it going to the top of 4th and then shift into 3rd... but that would result in Bad Things happening. Or, are you trying to say that you are hitting an early rev limiter?
