Automotive Engineering magazine article - M3 engine
Scanned article from Automotive Engineering Informational magazine. Goes into more engineering aspects of the engine. Lots of repeat information, but some new. 2 pages.
They also have a nice article on GTR. I have hard copy of the magazine, but you can get some info from aei-online.org |

May not be a torque monster like an AMG 6.2 but it certaintly has the AMG trounced in every other way. As one journalist once said "the boys at Maranello would have been proud to creat this engine, but they could'nt make this engine"

Thanks! This is a great read, especially the part about responsiveness. Further perspective on why simply chipping a 335 engine doesn't bring the 335 to M3 standards despite comparable peak output levels as measured in steady-state dyno runs. It’s one thing to post numbers on a straight line and another to respond to constantly varying driver input on a real and demanding driving situation.
