What kind of Oil do you use and recommend?
Dear E9X M3 user in the world,
which motor oil do you use now for your M3? Or what kind of or which oil do you recommend? Could you tell me your real experiences? |

Only use Castrol TWS 10w60. I really don't know how many times this is going to be discussed in this forum. But please read the manual, and use the only oil that BMW recomends. Had to do that....

I saw this thread earlier, and I wanted to say the exact same thing. I figured it was just a matter of time!

I was talking to a guy at the BMW Ultimate Driving Experience this weekend and he said that the Castrol Oil used in the BMWs aren't actually fully synthetic. He told me it was really close but not 100% synthetic. I don't know much about oils and not sure if this guy was trolling me. Any ideas on what he could be talking about?

Sadly, the case created a folk legend that "Castrol synthetic oils aren't really synthetic". It's part of an even larger marketing distortion field that says "it matters to you how your engine oil is blended". Actually it doesn't, as Castrol proved to the FTC. So, the oil in your BMW, if it's made by Castrol, is blended to meet the requirements BMW sets. In fact, it doesn't matter who made it - if it meets BMW specs, then it'll work fine. The blender, be it Castrol, Fuchs, Mobil or any of the other approved suppliers will blend a product that meets spec at the lowest possible cost. If they can meet spec with sugar water and seaweed, then stand by for green colored lubricants that taste sweet and remind you of the seashore. |
