I hit about 138 last weekend - very smooth. In fact, the wind noise I hear from the driver's side window around 80 mph seems to go away at speeds over 100 mph. Go figure.

No offence but I would cruise at that speed in my old 535d in France and Germany. That's a diesel for christ's sake!
Arizona - man you are so lucky to live in those wide open spaces! Good luck though,

Shouldn't you be watching the road instead on taking pictures of your speedo?

140mph dead, 4th gear, B road (country road). Only know because my passenger told me, damned if I'm glancing at the speedo at that speed. Had to back off due to an impending corner!

That's why we need a HUD in these things!

Have only been to about 125 thus far. One mark of a great performance car is the masking of high speed and the M3 does it phenomenally. Around 130 or so felt pretty quick in my previous modded E36 M3. Around 130 feels really (and amazingly) NOT fast.

HUD definitely required but 140mph happens real easy. Good test of will.

What's so special about 140mph? Many cars (even my Z4) can do 155; you don't need an M3 for that...
