Is there a Baltimore VDC?

My on order M3 went to Baltimore on the California Highway a couple of weeks ago. I am going to be taking a Performance Center delivery in mid April so plenty of time yet. It doesn’t really matter but, I am wondering if they do delivery prep in Baltimore or if they truck or rail the car somehow to New Jersey to do the prep?

I have read conflicting reports that they only do the delivery prep in NJ and other reports that they do it in Baltimore at a Mercedes center. Seems since 2010 they have changed a couple of times on the number of VDC’s they use. My CA wasn’t sure where they will do it. On the dealer Vehicle Inquiry they show “Port Loc: CHSPOA” if that means anything to anyone. 800 number is confused and the web site shows it in Finishing Touches.

The Vehicle Inquiry shows it to be shipped to BMW Performance Center; do they truck the cars down to South Carolina or rail? I suppose they could also use a boat as they stop down there also.

Anyone know? I am just curious.
Thanks.

I have heard of cars coming in through Baltimore but if you are doing Performance Center Delivery, somewhere further south would make more sense. Brunswick or Charleston should be the port of entry...

Edit: CHSPOA is Charleston... Ship likely stopped in Baltimore, unloaded some cars then continued to Charleston.

Thanks for the info. It could very well have gone on to Charleston. I know the ship did go there from the marine track site. I didn't know they did that but it would make sense for a PCD. If it did I am sure they will take good care of it.
