Wondering if its normal after long trips in the M for my angel i brights to go out. Keep getting 'daytime running lamp malfunction' for both left and right lamps after long drives. If i park the car and let it sit for a little theyll work again

How long was your long drive? I can say that after about 1.5 - 2 hours of driving, I do not get this error message. It doesn't sound normal to me.

If you're in OC, can you drop by so I can have a look?

I got that message a few times on start-up for the drivers side only. I popped it open and tightened it just a little bit. Haven't seen an error message since.

My driver's side went out two months ago and the idrive alert came up. The SA said that it wasn't a bulb. Apparently angel eyes are made of fiberoptics and must be replaced as a whole unit. And they did, I was it would cost $1000 to replace if out of warranty. I would just take it in and let BMW worry about it.

kaykay, did you decide on going with AiB's as well or sticking to your gp thunders?
I decided to put in an order for Lux 8 V3's...since Marc has confirmed they work with 2010+ models, and his price does not reflect the recent NAmotorsports price increase.... I also put in a pm with alex regarding his led set set development, which he replied to...needless to say, I decided to try out Lux 8's...

If both are affected then it may not be the light units themselves. Perhaps somewhere up stream from the lights where the power comes from. It could be overheating of the lights but since both are malfunctioning it is too coincidental to overheat at the same time due to defective units. But anything electrical sounds like an expensive proposition if you were to foot the bill on your own.

I know EAS is on Version 3 of the AiB's, I'm sure they look great, just don't want headaches/issues/problems with them. I'm still waiting to hear back from Alex regarding his LED development, could be worth the wait. Let me know how the Lux 8 V3s work out for you

This thread is a perfect example of why I will not change my angel eyes. I think the Angel iBrights look great, but as with other light kits, they ALL seem to have too many issues.
