Looking at that CarMax '11 - the mileage goes from 9182 to 8935 then to 9181. The last three events are in NJ and PA but now the car is in NC? I guess someone could have paid to have the car shipped there, but for $550, I don't like the prospect of someone passing after paying that kind of money.

Also a friend of mine who knew someone that had his C63 repossessed said the dealer that took it back rolled back the odometer to the last reading on CarFax. Since title records only happen every 2 years, it's possible this car along with the one I was looking at could have 2 years worth of miles on it that we don't know about.

At least with the car that I'm looking at, the dealer has records of the previous owner bringing it in on a regular basis along with mileage recorded at pretty even increments, so it seems believable.

I'd like to see if that TPMS light can be resolved. I agree brakes connected to TPMS seems strange, but I have no idea about mechanics. I do know that lights on dashboards drive me crazy.

I didn't know you could roll back mileage nowadays - maybe outside of swapping the cluster of the car...

On 350Z's, you could swap clusters with a lower mileage car and no one would be able to tell. If that's the case with the C63, I can't imagine how expensive that part would be compared to the increase in retail value to make any kind of profit.

At any rate, as far as your TPMS light goes, it could be the new wheels they bought either don't have sensors installed or they're not coded to the car.

It's a BMW dealer installing BMW wheels – I just don't get how they would miss this if this was truly the case, but hey, stranger things have happened.

As for the rollback, it's what my trustworthy friend said happened, so I believe it. Hacking into a digital system wouldn't surprise me. It just feeds into my paranoia about NYC dealers.

Dealerships aren't exactly competent 100% of the time - but, there could be some back-story as to why the TPMS light is on. Maybe a sensor is faulty and they didn't want to replace it. I denno. I'm sure you could have that fixed during negotiations for the car, though.

Go look at some other low milage cars and see what they look like and compare. If you have doubts about milage, that car should literally smell feel look and drive like brand new. It would take a serious idiot to destroy that in 9k miles but then again everything is possible

They have a '13 low miles on the lot that is DCT I test drove last time. I may have to do a back to back to make sure they feel about the same. Good advice.

Update - the dealer fixed the brake pad sensor light (dealer manager stated wrong sensor) which makes a ton more sense.

Took a look at another 08 M3 with sub 30k miles, no mods, 18" wheels and the dealer wouldn't budge from 42k. It was black with a red interior which I like. I think the northeast sucks to buy cars.

I paid $49k for my 08 e90 with 22k miles in March of 2011, and after reading the forums, I guessed I didn't get that great of deal... You should def be in the 30s for an 08 with less than 40k miles, I'll sell you mine with 48k miles for $35k

35k and no more.

An '08 is just that: a six year old BMW.

It is great the car has low miles.

Warranty or not, does not matter towards the price.

I bought my e90 after 53k miles and 4 owners, and after 1 yr of ownership all is just fine.

A truly fair price of an 08 with 60k miles is 33k if you search and dedicate yourself to learn the good deals. 9k miles is unusual but still used. Every 10k miles is about 1k in price change. So, that car is worth about 38k. But to build in risks in solving issues with the aftermarket junk on the car and any eventualities I would offer 35k and no more.

The other car you mentioned in your area has a ridiculous price.

The Carmax recommended here is a good deal. Primarily, due to the much improved iDrive.

Also, be open to a good deal out of state. NJ and VA tend to have at times, very good deals.

I figured the car was worth around 37k if it were stock. Being lowered, new wheels/tires, Brembo brakes, exhaust plus a somewhat higher premium for an ultra low mileage car with records at more than the proper intervals is what's causing this car to be 41k.

I found a 2005 911 Carrera 12k miles with IMS bolt fixed for the same price. I've been going back and forth between the two cars.

I have an original clean car with 30k miles. Paint protection. All maint records and original window sticker. I am the original owner.

I bought a gt3 and don't need this beautiful car anymore as a daily. I am going to get something more boring for that.

Pm me if you care. I am on Long Island. It's an e90 white with perfect red interior.

You're looking at this car with the perspective of a used car buyer with a finite budget. The original owner probably didn't care about dropping $6k on rims anymore than you care about spending $6 on a hamburger. He also bought a first year model car, another sure indicator in my book that he's an "enthusiast." I think it's pretty safe to assume the car was used as a track car, maybe not exclusively, but why else would you make these modifications and have such low miles?
