Flaking inside valve cover

Anyone know why the inside of the valve cover where u dump the oil is flaking

Happens to a lot of them, particularly cars with higher mileage and older age.

The inside paint/coating flakes off and there is buildup on the inside of the oil filler neck at the top.

Could that stuff ground up in the engine cause more rod bearing damage

heat is what is causing a bubbling to occur around the outside of the filler neck

IIRC the valve covers are not coated on the inside
