Supercharge the M3 or get an M6?

Which would you go for and why? Assume that supercharging the M3 entails all the other necessary mods....bigger tires, BBK, etc.

That depends....how long have you had your M3? I say go for the M6. But the Supercharger systems make the car whole different animal. but then youll want to spend money on new brakes and etc.

When it comes to mods** to the engine and brakes i prefer them from the manufacturer.

I don't think you need bigger brakes if you supercharged your M3 unless you track your car often but in that case the M6 is probably not the car you want.

Supercharged your M3 and put some AD08 295s, it's not so expensive(compared to M6) and it's worthy!

supercharge for sure.

EDIT: also, if I may shamelessly point it out, I've got a supercharger up for sale right now.

I'd get the new M6 if faced with that decision and money didn't play into the equation. I'm partial to OEM power. But don't quote me on that if I decide to supercharge my new M3 that arrives at the beginning of December .

I'd supercharge the M3, because the M3 is way more my style than the M6.

Which do you want to drive? There is no wrong answer here...

I'm trying to figure this out as well. For me its supercharge or do a GTR or wait for the new M3/M4.

I'm still up in the air. My problem is that My M3 is an 09 with 40k miles...Its not worth much.

Supercharge M3 all the way. you should watch this video. The M3 supercharged eat the M6 in 1/4 mile but in a mile run is another story.

I would buy the new M6 if that was an option for me. Twin turbo torque is awesome. Factory warranty. Comfortable, good looking car. Might not be as nimble on a racetrack, but I'll guess you don't spend much time on one so that does not matter. Even if the M6 is heavier, I think it would beat the M3 on the track.

Since the M6 is not an option for me, I may supercharge my E90M3 at some point with a used kit.

All this talk about supercharging, does anyone not worry about reliability and warranty???? Why not just buy a faster car from the factory and keep it stock???

No one worry because no one have problems with their supercharged M3, at least with their ESS supercharged M3!

Wow that's incredible, no problems huh? I had a stock 2008 m3 and had issues left and right, ended up lemoning the thing. I had a 335 that I tuned and had so many issues with that car I pledged that I wouldn't waist anymore money on modding, id simply buy a faster car from the factory.

That's some statement you make there.

The point here is reliability and probability.
The probability that you will have more problems with a modified (supercharged car) VS a stock car is much higher. If you want to go down that route, fine.

If I wanted a very comfortable and usable GT car for daily use only (no tracking), I'd get the M6 with all the options. Its competitor in my mind is a SL 63 AMG type vehicle. No fuss, just clean OEM FI power. Done.

A supercharged M3 has an entirely different purpose IMHO. I would want to drive it hard, throw it around, continually mod it, and track it occasionally. Not that the M6 couldn't do that, but given its size, and reviews from top editors, it just didn't seem like a car that would be as fun as a 750hp supercharged lightweight M3. Lastly, I think if I had to factor in the car for family use in some way (i.e. kids, etc.), the M6 would be more practical and comfortable.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I had so many problems with my last 3 cars(2000 Audi A4 1.8T GT28RS, 2002 Audi TT 225 tuned and 09 STI stg2) that I said to myself that the next car would be fast enough stock but you know how it is, you always want more and honestly I tryed but I have'nt found a single reason not to supercharged my M3!

Sure but seeing hundreds of supercharged M3s without earing about a single engine failure related to boost(again with the ESS kits) really contributed at making me realize that the M3 is a very realiable car even when supercharged! And trust me, I'm the most concerned person about reliability of my cars, after I blew up my 4th engine(2nd out of warranty) on my 09 STI I really thought that I would never modified any car again but now I'm supercharged and I feel that my set-up is really safe!

And yes the probability of having problems on a stock M3 VS supercharged M3 are not the same, same with the probability of winning the lottery when you buy one ticket VS 5 tickets, still slim chances that it will happen!
