HRT launches F111

pretty much the laughing joke of 2010 season...the most un-prepared team (which almost missed out the first few races last year), and on the second half season with the "drivers merry-go-around"....

This year they seemed to be more prepared, and reveals the 2011 car with a new livery....it was pretty good looking I must say!

Quote:
HRT has released the first rendered pictures of its 2011 car, showing off its new and distinctive livery.

The F111 has been designed under the technical leadership of Geoff Willis and has been labelled as "a significant step forward" by team boss Colin Kolles. The press release did not state when the car would actually hit the track, but it is expected to make an appearance at the final pre-season test in Bahrain.

"The F111 represents a significant step forward for Hispania Racing," said Kolles. "We have made a big improvement for starting our second season in Formula One and what you see in our new car confirms Hispania Racing´s commitment to F1."

He also revealed that "the F111 will incorporate the adjustable rear wing" in accordance with the new regulations to increase overtaking.

The team finished 11th in the 2010 championship, ahead of rivals Virgin by virtue of a higher finish, but without any points. Last year's F110 did not feature any significant aerodynamic upgrades during the season, but HRT intends to tweak the F111 over the course of 2011.

"We feel really proud of the car our drivers will run this forthcoming season," HRT president Jose Ramon Carabante said. "Despite a challenging first year, we managed to finish on the eleventh position in the world constructors championship. Now, we are very pleased to introduce the first spec of the F111, which means a huge design-effort from our side. This is only a first step as we are planning several updates during the season."

The car livery features new sponsor Tata, which comes to the team with Indian driver Narain Karthikeyan, but the spaces on the sidepod and front and rear wings appear to be up for grabs. The paintwork has been designed by Daniel Simon and features a number of little messages, such as "Car ends here" at the rear and "Attention! You are being filmed" next to the overhead camera.

Kolles added: "Daniel has created a wonderfully confident look for our new car which really captures the effort the whole team has put into developing the F111. The car design and the graphic design perfectly complement one another and mark the real beginnings of our ambitions."

The designer (livery) of the HRT F111 is Daniel Simon, who is German concept designer and automotive futurist. His recent work was related to the movie "Tron: Legacy".

This might be the BEST livery in 2011!!!

It does look pretty cool. But this isn't exactly a launch from HRT. These are all renderings.

I'm saying that if somebody was to make a lightrunner inspired F1 car that it would take HRT's spot.

How awesome would that be at Singapore?

Did they actually drive the F111 on day 4? I don't think they've even put 1 mile on it. Sounds like a disaster for Melbourne.

Nope, not a single mile, just like last year, because some of the parts were held up by custom.

http://en.espnf1.com/hrtf1/motorsport/story/43050.html

Quote:
HRT missed its final chance to test its new car after missing the final day in Barcelona because, so the team claims, vital parts were held up by Spanish customs.

The F111 was rolled in the Barcelona pit lane on Friday but not tested due to parts being at the airport. Late on Friday evening the Spanish team said it would not run on Saturday - the final day of pre-season testing - either.

"Unfortunately we could not get the dampers out of customs," said team boss Colin Kolles. "The result of this is that we can´t run tomorrow [Saturday]. This is life and we will overcome this problem."

With teams' freight heading for Australia over the coming weeks it is unlikely the car will run before the first practice session at Albert Park.
This is a bit worrying, I believe this is the first time (correct me if i'm wrong) that F1 teams had their parts held up in custom as if they were also smuggling drugs. Especially for the parts as common as a damper or so.
Teams can't even get the legal paperworks right got me worried.
