18" Wheel

Reflecting requests for a brighter finish on the M3 standard 18” wheel, BMW is pleased to announce the launch of the new Reflex Silver finish for the style M219 standard 18” wheel installed on the M3 Coupe, Convertible and Sedan.

The previous style M219 wheel with the dark graphite finish is no longer available for the M3 through production orders. The base prices for the Model Year 2011 M3s remain unchanged. Cars ordered before May 18, 2010 will have the original graphite wheel.

Yep, this has been covered in various threads already - it sort of snuck up on everyone and came to light when 2011s starting hitting the US.

ROW has had the silver 18s since the first day of M3 production. It is interesting, though, that they are using the Style 219M name for these wheels. The European ones are 260M and it was always assumed (well, at least by me) that the reason for the different styles was the color. Now that they are the same color (well, at least the appear to be to me) I don't see why they would use the 219M designation anymore.

And actually, I question that May 18th date you quoted. Where's the source for this info? People who ordered long ago and already received their cars are getting the silver 18s.

Looks like the value of my spare set of dark graphite M219s just went up.

I really don't like those silver wheels.

Don't like this wheel one bit, older wheels were much nicer.

+1 Same here.

I ordered my car back in April though so hopefully I will still have the gray.

Ditto. I just put on some Volk G2's and was debating on holding onto or selling my OEM 18's (graphite/gunmetal/dark/whatever you want to call it). Maybe I should wait until the silver starts shipping to sell...more potential buyers, LOL.

My source is always BMW NA. I noticed the bulletin from them about the wheel today. Everything I post relative to production, pricing (got pulled into a couple "meetings" about the 2011 invoice pricing I posted) etc., is directly from BMW. So I didn't post the actual bulletin (nor will I ever again), but if it's coming from me, it's coming from BMW NA.

I liked the graphite wheel myself. Looks pretty mean on an e90. I drove an Alpine White e90 M3 for a while as a demo and really loved how the contrast looked. I'm sure the new wheel will look good too.

I've seen them and they don't. It looks like it belongs on a no-option 328. They're absolutely terrible looking.

I don't particularly care for these or the grey 18's. I just want them because they will make for the best ride quality everyday.

That SG M3 above would really love the gunmetal 18s IMHO. On a SSII car, the silver looks ok.

NP.

On the silver wheels, I was pretty surprised to learn of this. But there isn't really much that can be done. I'm getting more use to them, and I don't think they are quite as bad as my original opinion when I saw it.

I'll take a picture of them when they are dirty later on.
