I too bid farwell
Well I picked up the last of my stuff from my now totaled M3. She is a part with no carpet, pad or back seats with the trim pieces half inside and half in the trunk.
She actually starts, but I was told that the rods are bent. Off to auction, to be either salvaged or parted out. I could not find another M3 in my budget (which has gone down a bit, and the price for cars with at least 1 year left on warranty has gone up compared to what I paid last year) so I bought a 2009 650i. Its a beautiful car with lots of power and very comfortable. Will miss the M3 and I will definitely look at the new ones when they come out. The forum has been great and I will miss it, especially since the 6ers are few and far between online (I guess 58 year old gynos don't troll , not that I am one...)

Well the good news is I am enjoying the 650i (not the same by still very nice), my car payments have gone down and my insurance has gone down (a little).
650i is more a gt than sports car, but it has a lot of torque.

Sorry to hear that. Water sucked up the intake ? Am I reading this right ? I see how this could damage the engine; although i do not see how that could be totaling the car. Water being uncompressible something had to give. Still I somehow think that car is not done yet. Whoever buys it from salvaged car auction given a few thousands should be able to get it running real good again.

I'm so sorry you could not manage to get back into an M3 at this time....especially after all you have been through.

admitting to being somewhat of a technology freak i would be interested in knowing step by step how water can cause the demise of an engine. Probably need an engine specialist to get the detailed answer.

Newer cars are totalled alot in floods as there are many electrics under the seats and throughout the car. Its wiser for the insurance company to wash the car up front rather than repair it and deal with all the issues/electrical gremlins that may arise as they would be on the hook for the related damages. |
