2010 EPA Hold
Hello all,
I am new to the forum and thank you all for the valuable info I have gleaned over the last few month of reading your posts. I was supposed to pick up my freshly baked 2010 M3 coupe (space gray/fox red, DCT, 19inch, fully optioned) tomorrow from the dealer but it seems that all 2010s are still at the port and are not being released until certification by the EPA. They don't have any idea of when the car will be available for transportation from New Jersey at this point. Has anyone had any experience with this in prior model years? Do you know how long this hold remains? cheers, R |

I remember something similar happening when the 2008s first came out, I think. You might try a search, but I'm not sure if it will be easy to find the thread.
FWIW, some people have had their 2010 M3 delivered in the US already so this either doesn't effect all cars, is a recent development, or your dealership just made it up. |

I live in florida and its at a port in GA i dont know why considering were one of the best places for boating and shipping but im hanging in here.. so anxious! good luck with getting your car hope you enjoy!

Hey,
Good luck with your car as well, loved the AW it was a tough decision between it and space gray for me. As far as the hold it seems each car is being tested by EPA then released and not all cars are on hold, just that there is an extra step to go through which is delaying the release. Seemingly this occurs at the beginning of each model year to ensure the cars meet EPA standards...which are so low anyway i'm surprised they bother |

Thanks Johnny! I am excited to being behind the wheel of this monster! This is going to be different for me as well since it will be the smallest bmw, and probably the best driver experience car I've owned.
To date I've had a 2001 530i , 2005 645cic convertible (loved it), and the 2008 X5 4.8. Believe it or not the X5 was the best one to own over all for all the benefits I got out of one car (space, performance, and luxury). It will be interesting to drive a go-cart for a change |

I hope they get this cleared up soon. My 2010 E90 should be getting unloaded today at the Brunswick port. I was hoping for a fairly quick trip through the VPC.

I know it is frustrating but just remember about the really cool new voice control system in the 2010's! I think that technology change was worth the wait over a 2009 in my opinion. The new system allows you to input addresses in one voice commands (ex. naturally say "1600 Pennsylvania avenue, washington, dc") instead of having to input state, city, street, number.
Moreover the new system will allow us to access music on our entertainment unit hard drive with the voice command (ex. just say "Guns and Roses, Patience") |

I didn't know the 2010's had those features.
GNR? That song is like 20+ years old now. I'm getting old

What's up with EPA picking on BMW???
This is how I got into an M3. I had a 135 delayed at the port after waiting months for it. The sale guys said they're giving GREAT lease deals and there was a car I was happy with. At that time, all the BMW's with the N54 were held up.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Present and accounted for. Mine reached port of Charleston 9/24. Told it's waiting for me at the Performance Center. But...I can't have it. My tax dollars at work for me!

EPA Timeline
Does anyone know if this EPA holdup is pre or post -VPC?
If it's pre-VPC, then that means we're looking at another 1-2 weeks AFTER our cars are released. This is so frustrating - my car reached the port more than a week ago, and so far I have received no information from my CA or BMWNA regarding the holdup. |

VPC is fairly quick. Mine was there for only 5 days and I've heard as little as 2. I think and it all depends how swamped they might be.

My car arrived at Port Hueneme on Tuesday afternoon and was invoiced released to shipping yesterday afternoon. Accoring to my dealer, it should arrive today or Monday.
I guess we'll see.
