DCT double shift

Every once in awhile, always in S mode, my dct will shift twice with one paddle pull. Usually it happens on the 3-4 shift where it'll go to 4 then immediately to 5. Happens at least a couple times a week. Anyone else experience this?

You could have a shift module going out inside the steering wheel.

To confirm this, could he try shifting with the shifter rather than the paddles? OP, does this happen in D / automatic mode?

Thanks for the responses!

It's never happened when using the shifter actually. I'll use it for awhile and see what happens. I've never driven it in D, but the wife does. She hasn't noticed anything odd but that doesn't mean much

Nextr time you have an open road would you try a WOT pull to see if your experiencing the same issues as me?

it could be something really simple like mentioned above, you could also have someone recalibrate the dct computer. who ever sold you the dct tune, ask if they can help you. i'm hoping it's something related to a component in your steering wheel/dct paddle. good luck.

My car has been doing this for a few months too.
1) Never does it in D mode (though I don't drive much in that mode).
2) Occurs only on the upshift, never on a down shift
3) Low throttle input, generally low speeds, never had it happen above 40 mph
4) Does not do it at the track. Was at VIR in March and no issues at all.
5) Not that frequent, perhaps 1 time out of 30-40 shifts and it's not really consistent

Seems to me perhaps a poor contact in the right hand paddle. Don't use the console shifter to know if it does it there or not.

That is exactly what's happening with mine...I first noticed it after I changed paddles, but that may be a coincidence.

Does changing the shift settings matter? Have you changed your tranny fluid or know if it's been changed recently? If it was happening to me like that first thing I'd do is flush the tranny fluid and possibly replace the filters. It's a relatively easy job. Mine definitely feels like it's an electronic issue in the paddle or with the dct tune but only happening at WOT sounds more mechanical to me.

Changing the paddles may not be a coincidence because those are directly related to this issue, lmao. Check your paddle install. Try the console shifter like mentioned above and report back.

Not too familiar with the wheel and paddles for the E9x, but this is very common on the E6x with SMG. For those, the paddles are made of plastic and crack slightly so you lose the "detent" feel and it begins double and triple shifting.

This happened to me after changing my paddles. It was a pain to fix. I think i disassembled the steering wheel at least 15 times that weekend while troubleshooting. At the end (I think, it worked properly after this time) it seems that the gue paste that is where the small ball bearing sits had moved to the connectors while I did the exchange. I took off everything including green circuit part, cleaned it well, with a q-tip and alcohol, put it back and voila, never had an issue after that.
