Paint Protection Film Wrap for frozen matte look?

Hey guys,
I was wondering what people thought about wrapping their cars in a 3m type wrap in a matte finish. ive seen pics of it with clear regular finish but i want to get the frozen look out of the car without actually getting frozen paint. has anyone done this?

also, are there any good places in South Carolina near the Performance Center that do a good job on custom clear protectant wraps?

I rememer watching a vid of a black M5 that someone used it on to make it a matte black. It was just clear 3m film over the entire car. It really looked great and w/ 3m you can't go wrong.

I know a guy that matte wrapped his c63 and c63 black, it cost him 6k Canadian for each car, looked pretty good.

Unless you are 20 years old and/or in SoCal please don't do this. I can't wait for this fad to pass.

I did it myself with help from a shop who does custom car works... the owner is a buddy of mine. All in all i spent about 1 thousand and let me tell you... makes a world of difference on the amount of attention your car will get in matte. I took my car to the BMW dealer today for a state inspection and everyone there was in awe. If you can manage to take on the challenge, i wouldn't listen to the negative feedback on here. Just my opinion from self-experience. the process is hell but the outcome is glorious.

the guy is not looking for a solid wrap, but 3m makes transparent type film which can dull the finish and is used really as protection for the car; like a clear bra (while giving same effect though)

Look into a matte clear bra. You have several options: Premier SatinGuard (made by Ventureshield), Xpel Stealth, or Aerotect Frostbite. 3M recently came out with a matte clear bra but these have been out for a while. They are thicker than conventional cast matte vinyls so they do offer you the protection of a normal clear bra. The material is a little more expensive than regular vinyl though, but I think the finish, compared to a regular matte vinyl, is well worth it.

I have been installing the Xpel Stealth film and the SatinGuard film for a while. Both films are great films and really give the car a satin finish. One thing to note is the satin paint protection film is VERY easy to maintain where as vinyl or the satin paint is very hard to take care of. I wasnt a fan of the satin black cars but have to say some of the other colors look great when done properly.

Not crazy about the green but i saw a wrapped matte orange RS4 coupe the other day and it looked amazing. I've also seen a video on youtube somewhere of a matte orange e92 and it also looked amazing. If you decide to do it.... by all means, Orange! (Just My opinion)

PM me how I can contact you. I want to ask you a few questions about the wrap. I would do orange as it looks hot.

I thought about wrapping my car in a 3M satin guard. Looks pretty cool but I love my shiny yellow paint.

I'm fairly new to some of these mods, you're wrapping your car in tape and that gives you a matte finish on the paint? How does that work?

Genuine curiosity.

It's paint protection film that, instead of being clear, is opaque, giving your glossy paint finish - a matte look.

Oh thanks, I was a little confused but I understand now.

What are some of the other ways to get a matte finish? Ive got a friend working on a Mad Max style coupe right now and he wants to put on matte black.
