What will you drive when gas reaches $9.50 per gallon?

Worlds oil reserves have peaked some 15 yrs back. The energy needed to produce oil starts to outweigh the energy gained. Crude oil is reaching all time high. Some 5 to 10 years from now, we will be where Europe is today (and Europe will be at new skyrocket levels, someone suggested $27/gallon yesterday)

What will we drive? Hybrids? Horse and wagon?

Problem is that i.e. Hydrogen infrastructure is estimated to take 30-50 yrs from now to make it a real alternative.

Bottom line is, enjoy our E90's 300 Hp, in the 20 yrs timeframe, 3 horsepower might be the new dream for auto-geeks.

Start to act now - Promote research for alternatives!!

Are you going to make bio-diesel from your own shit? Problem is that it will only take you 10-100 miles per year....(depending on how much you shit)

This is America, the greediest country in the world, when our supply runs too low, we'll just invade and steal from other countries like we always do...

I thought you were smart? you go to the local restraunts and get there cooking oil for FREEE and then convert it into a useable product known as bio diesel, which cost about 1 dollar per gallon! and for you info I clogg the toilet on the regular I have a gas powered plunger

Problem is, even if the entire world eat nothing but fries, this would still only replace a fraction of the demand for energy. But yes, this should be done.

Yes, and then appear surprised when some irritated youth from these countries let their frustration reach unimaginable levels and innovation (today called terrorism)

Problem is that these countries are running out of oil to, so there will be no-one to invade.. Which is good, since this will calm down the irritation in these countries and we'll all be safer.

Problem remains though, that we'll still need to bike to work...

Gas in Saudi Arabia is like 50 cents a gallon, i highly doubt they are running out of oil...

I'm wish I could go 100% electric. No more rumble and exhaust note but it could easily whip many petrol based cars asses and would be very modable. Only draw back is battery technology at this point.

A small number of (producing) countries subsidize their gasoline (Saudi, Dubai, Iran, Venezuela, China - to name a few). The pump price in these countries is not representative of the cost to produce the fuel.

i just want to point out that china is not a oil exporting country and gas price is way higher than that in the US. In fact most other countries have higher gas prices than the US. Oh and Dubai is not a country.

Thanks for correcting me re: Dubai. Actually, I'm quite aware it's one of 7 emirates (have been there). Just wasn't sure if all of the others were subsidizing fuel

re: China. Please note I didn't say "oil exporting countries", rather - producers

Carry on .....

Well food prices will likely sky rocket too ask a result of the price of fuel.
