Why is everybody still imploring this guy to do the right thing? It was so scary and serious he posts on the board all traumatized last Thursday, and he is still driving around in it.

steering lock

I have experienced a very similar problem with my former ride: 2006 E90 330. Although my wheel did not lock up during driving, it did so during idling. It turned out to be a fault with the transceiver in the steering column that communicates with the key fob: the key fob and the steering column must recognize each other or else the steering locks to prevent hotwiring. So, the car intermittently stopped recognizing the key fob. B/c the problem is intermittent, it is hard to reproduce. The dealer replaced the entire steering column, on warranty of course.

As others said: have the dealer work on this immediately: it is a true emergency.

I'm wondering why you STILL haven't contacted the dealer when you said you would. Why are you spending time asking us, on a fourm, instead of calling the dealer? This is not a problem to take lightly. No matter what, the problem needs to be docmented... WITH BMW, not this forum. What of the future of the car and it's next owner?

On the 20th you said you'd be bringing it in on Monday... Monday being the 27th? Are you still driving it? That's crazy man... Like, you are out of your mind to not have that vehicle towed to the dealership immediately. You could kill someone or yourself.

If it were me and that happened, I would have had it towed there the same or next day, and I wouldn't still be driving around in it.

Starting to wonder if this is a troll post, because your apathy towards the seriousness of this situation is mind boggling.

I don't know, at least with the accelerator issue you can throw the car in neutral if you have your wits about you, what do you do when the steering wheel doesn't work?

This doesn't make sense. They were to pick up the car on Monday and here it is Friday and you are still waiting for a roadside assitance to come pick it up.....

The car should of been picked up within a matter of hours not days.

And this is where I think you are not getting what is being said here, or you are full of it.

After it did it the first time, you should have stopped driving it due to endangering others. Said you would take it in last Friday, but didn't. Said it would be picked up Monday, but it wasn't. You say you were "taking it in" Monday. I thought you were having it picked up and had stopped driving it last Friday?

No, you have obviously driven it because it did it again coming out of your driveway. I doubt very seriously if it has been parked since last Thursday when you first posted.

No loaner car? I would have the manager on the line and get one asap due to the fact that a 2011 $70k car's steering is locking up. I call BS on this "excuse". I find it hard to believe the dealership wouldn't work with you here, if you made the effort.

I call BS on this whole thread.

its not BS man, i really didnt drive it last weekend and i when i called up monday to get a loaner they keep saying they are booked till the end of next month but i dont get it, when i went to the dealership for my 1st service they had like 15 loaners in the lot but they said all were taken until next month again, so for sure 2morrow im going to call up them again and insist on getting a loaner, the car is parked right now at my job and ill have someone pick me up tonite

i know i must seem wrong for not taking it in but the only reason i keep delaying it, is because they dont have a loaner for me and i need a car for work

Are all the car rental companies out of cars too? Make the dealer pay the the rental. It's no BMW, but who cares at this point.

^they didnt even tell me anything like that, and i even ask how long do you think it would take to get repair she said she cant say it might be a big job, so i dont wanna be stuck without a car for a whole week, thats why im delaying it, i know its not a good reason but its the truth
