Bavarian Motor Transport -- weak link?

So, my CA calls me yesterday afternoon and gives me the good news. My M3 E92 will be arriving the following day (today)! Obviously, I'm pretty excited. So, he says he'll call me when the car arrives, then I can come in and sign the papers while the car gets PDI'ed. Sounds good, huh?

Not exactly. I've been sitting around on my ass all day waiting for the call to come in. I talk to the CA around noon and he says the car hasn't shown up yet, but as long as it gets there by 4pm, they will have it ready for me today. So I call back at 3:30 and guess what? It still hasn't shown up? I mean, wtf?

The car left the VPC in Baltimore on 7/29 and it takes 3 entire days to get it to Rhode Island (an 8 hour drive)? This is seriously annoying. What gets me isn't so much the fact that I don't have the car today. I can wait until Monday. What REALLY annoys me is that I had to waste an entire day WAITING for nothing .

Anyway, just needed to vent. I just hope some redneck trucker or dealer employee isn't out joy riding in my new baby. If I get the car and it has over 10 miles on it, I will be majorly pissed. Anyone else had a similar experience?

I had a similar experience. On the 13th, my SA told me that the car would get put on a truck, sent over on Thursday (15th) morning, and be ready for me that day. Well, my SA called that Thursday and told me the car wouldn't be in cause the truck it was on was delayed. I ended up having to wait until the next Tuesday (20th) to pick up my car.

I still feel fortunate though, since I only had to wait a total of 3 weeks for my car, and I know a lot of others here waited 3 months!

Angry

So I talked to the dealer and they have no clue what's going on -- big surprise there. I then called BMT and they told me that the car is at the port waiting to be loaded on a truck!!! It's been waiting since 7/29 and the dealer actually received an inventory report showing that the car would arrive 7/31. WTF?!?!

The guy at BMT was not very helpful, but said that the cars are loaded on a truck within 48 hours of being released to them. He said it SHOULD get on a truck any time, but who even knows what that means.

The problem is that I have someone taking over my current lease this week, so I need to get this damn car ASAP, as I'm going away this weekend.

Anyone have a suggestion about how I can get these idiots to put the car on a truck and drive it up here? At this point, the dealer is completely useless, but I don't mind calling them and harrassing them if that will help.

Any thoughts??

Pretty sure that "the car will get there when it gets there" and your best bet for a solution to your problem is to ask the dealer for a loaner if the M3 isn't there by the time your current car is gone...

Yeah, I just called the sales manager and he's promising me the car will arrive today or tomorrow. He emailed the vpc and the car was definitely released to the trucking company last week (7/29 or 7/30). When I told him the car was still waiting for a truck (according to BMT dispatcher), he was surprised by this. In any event, he offered me a loaner without me having to ask for one, so he definitely gets points for that . I was hoping to put about 500 miles on the car this weekend for my trip out of town. I'd like to break it in while the weather is still nice

As a side note, I called BMWNA customer relations to get status and they told me that they could only track the car as far as the port of exit (i.e. Bremerhaven). I'm not sure why other members have reported that they were able to get stateside tracking info from BMWNA. I was told flat out that they did not have any access to that information and that I needed to contact the dealer directly.

So my lease transfer went through today. I am officially without wheels. I'm driving a Nissan Altima loaner POS from the dealer.

I called the trucking company's rep at the port this morning and he said he was trying to get it on a truck today. I'm not holding my breath.

Anyone know a way to put some pressure on this guy to get the car on a truck?

It was released to trucking on 7/29 and has been sitting there since.

Well, after a little grease from the dealer, it looks like the trucking company is loading the car on a truck tonight. It should be at the dealership tomorrow afternoon or the following morning.

Nothing worse than getting your expectations set and then having the rug pulled out. I've been there too buddy, and it's no fun. I don't mind the waiting, but when you're told you'll have it on ____ and doesn't get there it really bites--especially when you the feeling no one is working on your behalf to actually resolve the situation.

My god

I swear, sometimes think that BMW owners are on a different planet. I suppose there is a thought that the trucker or the company gets paid just to piss you off! Lord knows the truck isn't going until it's full cause there is nothing worse than making short money for moving a full load compared to giving you fits for losing money in the process. Give me a frickin break
