BBS CH-R Black Edtion wheels : A comparison between 20" and 19"

Hi guys. A joint effort here from MFKN3 and yours truly. MFKN3 ordered a set of BBS CH-R 20" black edition rims from www.baanvelgen.com. The wheels and tyres shipped Fedex (free) ex Holland substantially cheaper than you could buy locally. After seeing these and on the recommendation of MFKN3 I got a set too, only the 19" version.

The supplier (Hendrik) was very happy to have the wheels re-coated in matte black to remove logos and retain the OEM competition look to meet my requirements.
The rims are 9" (front) and 10.5"(Rear) and are fitted with 295x 25x20" /295x30x19" and 245x 30x 20 /245x35x19, the front tyres being the same with as stock.

The wheels look quite good I think on both cars and are great value. The supplier was extremely helpful and met all expectations which made for a very pleasant transaction.

Tyres were fitted and balanced and well packed for shipping

Very nice, they look handsome on both! How is the ride on the 20 inch version? What size tires as well? They look beefy.

I can't say for sure about the ride as I have the 19"s but I'm told the ride is firm but very comfortable with the 20"s

Very nice! Just wondering, how did you guys go about marking the boxes and values when importing? I'm just about to have my own wheels come across from the USA and i'm wondering the best way to try and avoid the GST / Duty.

Did you just risk it and bring it in with the full value listed or modify it to a smaller amount?

You can't, and any supplier in his right mind won't fill out a false declaration of value. You just have to forget about it and pay the duties or you would end up with serious problems.

Little hard to list 4x BBS + Tyres <$1k. The setup here would probably retail ~$7k.

The 20's are a little stiffer than the 19's, but I'm lowered on H&R Sport Plus which feel a little more firm than DaveDee's on H&R Sports. Interestingly the Michelins also have a much squarer sidewall than the conti's which look more stretched - both are 295 width. They're Conti 5P btw.

Well, you could deal with the fines & consequences for stamp duty fraud.
And the insurance will only cover the declared value.

Pay the extras and do it properly.

Love the CH-R's, even in black.

They're just held on by 3M tape and look like time attacks. I just think it looks cleaner without them and I never hit curbs

The shipping on your $500 akra was a bit steep at $6k

Probably not worth the risk on commonly known items like tyres.

well the akra wasnt 6k and i think all up i saved 4k that i didnt pay on tax because we already pay enough i think.

the 4k went to the ess 650 kit i got from southern bm would much rather give it to them

It was a real pleasure preparing these two sets and the outcome is really nice and flush. Especially the custom 19" set works really good with the beefy 295/30-19 tires.

So for those that are interested, i spoke to customs today and any wheels that are sourced and manufactured wholly in the USA are a scheduled item under the Australia - USA Free trade agreement and are free from any duty charges.

I basically paid the $55 dollar fee to an agent, got the supplier to fill out a declaratation and the wheels / tires will come GST / Duty free! Which makes the purchase price very appealing once again. If anyone wants more info PM me but it's a fairly straight forward process
