Wider tires & traction control
I was at the dealership today getting my MPE & BMC air filter installed and inquired about running a wider tire in the front & rear 255/35/19 f 275/35/19 r and the service advisor informed me that it could interfer with your traction control. (throwing codes & what not) For all of you with wider tires, has anyone had any issues with there traction control?

No issues if you run the right sizes. Your proposed sizes will work great.

A 255 35 19 and 275 35 19 is what I run with PSS and will not interfere at all. It's all about maintaining the appropriate ratio.

From personal experience, I have had ABS and DSC turn themselves off at the track from spinning the rear tires continuously. It was 100 degrees and I just couldn't get traction as the rears were spinning for a couple of laps until finally my NAV screen just lit up like a christmas tree and just about every function gave out. And it wasn't joking...all the systems were turned off. Because of this, the car didn't save me on a mistake and I went off track - it was in a thread I posted in the track section in early June.

I ran those sizes on 359's and 220's with PSS's. I only noticed a little less response in handling...not as crisp. You should ask your SA what codes it would throw going +1 with the same stagger as stock.

Thanks for all the feedback everybody, I decided to stay conservative and run 245/35/19 f and 275/35/19 r on M Super Sports. Running Vossen wheels 19x8.5 f
19x10 r I called and talked to a tech at tire rack & he said 255 would be fine up front & that I could go as wide as 295 r. However I went down to dicount tire and talk to a tech & he didn't recommend me going over 245 in front and said I could go up to 295 r however he would not go higher than 285.

If you don't have a supercharger I really ask why? As someone noted above you get less crisp turn-in and feel. You add more weight to the most important part of rotating mass on the car in terms of power robbing and handling robbing (rotating mass at the exterior of the hub which is the tire is the worst place to add weight) and unless you have a supercharger where you need the rubber I ask why people do this? If it is just for looks ok. But otherwise not sure why?
