Is there a comfortable (padded) neck strap for DSLR?

I usually use the neck strap but find it uncomfortable in the summer times.

I like the Op/tech Pro Loop Strap that I bought for mine: http://www.adorama.com/OTPLSBLK.html...fo=optech+loop

I bought mine locally from a camera shop for about the same price as Adorama....

Very comfortable with my D300/18-200 VR.

The Industry Disgrace by Crumpler is the most comfortable strap I've used. Plus it doesn't have the quick release clips you find on most straps, so if you don't trust those plastic bits with your camera, get the ID.

It's about the same size as that OP/Tech strap Scollins suggested. Not sure about hot summer days - I just got it in early spring

And don't get it in brown, haha. It seems to be the only color in stock around where I live. Maybe you can get it in black online, but I wasn't willing to wait cause I had to leave for a road trip the day after. As for pics of it on my camera, expect a really bad phone pic some time tomorrow...

Take a look at this. Best strap out there in my opinion.

That is one bad-ass strap system!

I know I'm bumping an ancient thread but has anyone bought a RS-4? I've been thinking about it but want to make sure it's worth it...

I know it's an old thread, but it's one i haven't looked at/come across, but this is the strap i have, and a buddy of mine liked it so much he bought it too, The metal quick release on it is handy when doing over head shots.

Takes a lot of weight off the neck, and also allows more room for you to carry 2 cameras on you. 1 on neck, and the other at the side.

only problem with it is that it can swing around a little if you don't have a good length set on it, which results in you knocking off your lens cap often.

I have the Crumpler. Haven't really put it to good use yet, though. Need to get out and walk around if the ice/snow ever goes away.

I hear the crumpler is good but once you start adding heavy lenses and such it's no longer fun. Here's my main gripe: 7D + 24-70L. It's not too bad but I can't wear it for hours at a time. I'm thinking of investing (lol) in a 70-200 2.8 which I hear weights a ton. Any thoughts?

i can't say from experience from the crumpler standpoint, but I believe anything is better then the thick and not flexible strap that come with the cameras.

main reason i get other straps is so i'm not walking around advertising what equipment is hanging from my neck for someone to steal.

secondly comes comfort, and i can tell you, just from running the 5D or the 7D with the 24-70 2.8, it's much nicer to have a real strap.

so even if it doesn't carry all the weight, it's at least spreading it better then the standard one that comes with the cameras.

my side strap, i barely feel the camera there. so good padding goes a long way!

i might look into the crumpler as a next purchase for the camera around my neck, when i have the other at my side. distribute weights a lot better.

currently just have a simple more comfortable one for my neck strap for one camera, so i think it would be a nice replacement.

Last year (after my post above), I bought the RS-7 plus the Brad, and I have to say it is VERY comfortable, even hauling my D3 + 70-200. I bought it in December, just before they introduced the RS Sport, which is like the RS-7 plus Brad, but with a more pronounced curve to it. I might opt for the RS Sport if I was buying one today, but I'm very happy with the RS-7. I'd suggest the RS-7 over the RS-4 as well.

I also use Manfrotto RC2 plates, so I upgraded those with BR's FastenR-T1's.

Doesn't hurt that they are a local company to me too.

Thanks for the mini-review Scott. I'll have to keep my eyes out for the RS sport when I finally get a new body.

^^^I agree with you the RS Sport seemed to be the strap that would fit my style the best....bookmarked for when I get my 550d body in a couple weeks.
