Magnet for Rocks ...
Is it just me or is the M3 a freaking magnet for rocks, stones, pebbles, etc. I have less than 10K miles on my car and I already have two rock chips on the windshield. I am not sure why but it sure seems to get hit by every damn piece of flying debris.

I replaced my windshield two weeks ago because of the rock magnetism thing.

In 2 years I had 5 !!!!! windshields replaced...highways are unkept due to rotten economy-infrastructure...you'd be shocked to see what roads cluttered with. Also, a Coca Cola delivery truck had its "hand truck" (that is always hanging off the back of truck) fall off at 60 mph fly accross highway hitting cars and ofcourse swiping my BMW damaging the windshield... Coca Cola Co. quickly and quietly sent me a check of $4k for new windshield new wheel and buff up and for me not to make a noise... it could ve easily cost Coca Cola Co. millions $$$ to refit their world fleet of trucks, if sued. Those "hand trucks" are still hanging off the rear, ready to to be launched as a 40lbs projectiles at other peoples cars. From now on, whenever I see a delivery truck,- I stay away as far as I can.

mabye...
we are driving too fast, so easy on this car I try to keep some distance from the car ahead, especially if it is a large vehicle ( semi, suv, trucks). when i see one coming up along side of me, i would move one lane over to avoid anything that it might throw up.

The windows are very brittle now as well as the paint since BMW switched to a water based system. 5000 miles on mine now and I have filled in 3 big paint chips and have several big ones on the windshield.

That's NOTHING man. You get that on this crappy desert town in just one freeway outing. But yes, the lower the car, the more prone to such damage.

Glad to know it isn't just me. I guess the only way to keep a car pristine is to just not drive it.
