Cop Magnet!

Before owning this car, I had not been stopped by a cop in over 8 years (all 8 years driving various 5 series.

In just 900 miles with the M3, I've been pulled over TWICE!!!, but NOT for speeding. First time, the cop said I was on the phone... which is BS because the cell is hooked up with blue tooth in the car. Last night we are going to a Christmas party and I get pulled over in NY state for "moving from right lane into the left and back". When I explained to the officer that there were 3 deer standing along the right side of the road, he admitted that he saw them, but wrote a summons anyway.

Is it me, or does this car attract cops?

Probably attracts cops. Sometimes I used to get pulled over for them to see my car close up. Bastards!!!

I know what you mean, i got pulled over leaving hooters parking lot after having dinner with a bunch of coworkers all he ask me was for my Driver license and then let me go.

i get my plates run by local PD and highway PD all the time i see them cut multi lanes to get behind me follow me until i exit. i even got ask if my car was supercharge at a stop light hahaaa.

not just your car, porsche and many other bmw's get pulled over for BUNCH of BS, once my friend got pulled over and the cop said that his STOCK exhaust was to loud, my friend is like "umm... its a stock car officer i have not done any kind of modification to my car how can it be too loud" and he is like "i can't prove weather its stock or not but i am going to write you a ticket because i think it is too loud for public transportation.

what kind of BS is that ? (btw he drives a toyota celica lol

The nicer your car, the more senseless attention you get from the cops...

If you read some of the crap on 6speedonline.com, you will see. Like the guy who got pulled in his murcielago roadster and the conversation was:

Officer: this is a beautiful car sir!
Driver: uhh.. thanks!
Officer: you have a good day sir and be safe out there!

OP - that cop was a douche...I'd appeal that in court stating that the officer saw the dear yet still wrote summons....fking pisses me off.

out here in silicon valley, cops see high end cars all the time, and an M3 just is run of the mill. Hence we just don't get stopped for stupid crap. The CHP in northern and southern cali just won't annoy you unless you are doing something stupid. When I got a ticket from them, I was speeding pretty excessively.

+1. I've never been stopped in nice cars. I got my only ticket in the past three years driving a friend's Toyota Corolla. Cop said, 'very cool Corolla you got there pal.'

I know Niles. The cop hater is sore with some justification... Illinois cops are notorious for making drivers miserable. In any case, can you imagine the cops reaction to this guys attitude when stopped? I think he makes things alot worse for himself.

nearly every day for the last couple of weeks, there has been a motorcycle cop that hangs out on an onramp to I5 here in seattle and so it is a bottleneck point where traffic creeps. he uses this to find people not wearing their seat belts. i get nervous because i dont have a front plate. he looks directly at me each time but hasnt pulled me over. *whew*

but the other day, i was downtown and pulled into an area where there were two other cars and the open space i took behind them. they were all "3 minute loading" zone spaces. i was there no more than a minute and 2 cops came up and tapped on my window and said "nice car, but move it!" and pointed to the "3 minute loading" sign. i left and went around the block and noticed the other 2 cars were still there. the cops didn't tell them to move, just me.

Live north of boston...definition of suburbia...heres the kicker ill be in a suit for work and i wont even get looked at by a cop but if im wearing like a hoodie or a baseball hat ill get pulled over almost automatic and get the whole.....so what do you do for work, where do you live, do you have anything in the car i should know about......i was fed up with it the other day and i straight up said to the cop...Where i work does not pertain to why you pulled me over for no front plate so do me a favor...dont ask.........got pissed and all huffy puffy on me and then was like get the hell home if i see you again your getting a ticket.....i wanted to say ohh boy not a whole 35 dollars ohhh no im real worried.

Cops are good they keep some order in society....but do yourself a favor....we live in a country where theres a lot of bad stuff going on, use that patch and uniform for good and catch some real criminals, and do us a favor as good people in society and cut someone a break.

I have a Space Grey M3 E92 and I've gotten pulled over twice in one the last 13 months of having it, once for speeding. Before having this I drove a Mystic Blue E46 32Ci Convertible, and a X5 4.8is (Individual Blue, i forget the name), with both I would get pulled over every week for random sobriety checks and so on.

In my experience, probably due to the color as well, it looks to the cops as less of a baller car than an SUV or a convertible.
