pre purchase inspection
I'm about to buy my preowned m3, should I be there for the pre-purchase inspection at the dealer, or can I just ask the seller to take care of it?

The seller just needs to drop the car off. Just ask for the best M tech to perform the inspection, and make sure to negotiate a price before hand. Also ask them to thoroughly check for cosmetic imperfections, including wheel rash/dings/leather wear, and even the undercarriage (and under bumper scrapes, etc). Good luck.

Have the owner drop it off, and show up during pickup to speak directly with the service guy. It would be even better if you could speak with the tech, but they probably will not let you. They should also provide you with a written report and estimate of what needs to be fixed (not covered by warranty or service plan) and for how much. They'll probably find something such as tires or minor cosmetic stuff. If you want to buy the car, use that to the lower the price.

The dealer will give you a report and you should ask any/all questions you may have on the report and car from the service manager in charge.
