Thats why there is MDrive, because some people do care about the ride. Some people don't have pristine roads and would like the ability to keep their filing in their teeth.

Ride is important and the reason I got ride of my Z06, after an hour driving to my parents I just couldn't stand to be in the car anymore. My BMW handled superb, lost alot of power but in the end, it was an all-around better performer.

People don't buy $60k cars just to track.

The ability for the new M3 to do both is being overlooked by many people.

Come to New Orleans and ask me if switchable ride between compliant and rock-hard sport is a bad idea.

Our roads are AWFUL. Built on shifting swamp sediment with the government too poor and too corrupt to ever fix them properly. I have a mental map of all the little rim-bending divots on all over the city. Thank god the 19" E46 wheels are strong. I hope the E92 ones continue the tradition.

Guys!! Let's put it simple! Bmw m3 was, is and will be the ultimate driving macine, the mighty icon, in spite of all the bad publicity. think of what they said about the e46 and now it's a living legend.

The e46 M3 was the cat's meow, pre-release, for the most part. I know, I was number 1 in my State on the wait list.

Our roads are shit here too. Salt and snow, as well as the yearly 100 degree swings in temperature take their toll. I hit my share of pot-holes, sometimes with a thud so loud it sounds like the suspension broke. Never bent a rim, and never had the desire to make the M3 ride softer.

But, I wonder if the remark in the article about the M3 riding better was even talking about EDC? My impression was that they were talking about the standard non-adjustable shocks. I think it goes without saying that the M3 with EDC optioned and set to "soft" will ride better than the C63, right?

If not, there is always aftermarket, or perhaps even E46 rims will have the proper offset.

Most people buying a M3 will not consider the C63.
Most people buying a C63 have always 'considered' the M3.
Car tests articles have little value to influence a buying decision than just to make the owners feel good.

Well, I for one am aware of EDC, but ride quality nevertheless remains a low priority when I purchase a performance car. I would take an Elise as my daily and that car will probably never have anything like EDC.

Heck, for that matter if I go home today and find my wife has added a Porsche Carrerra GT to the fleet, I will drive that car everyday of my life til it dies (or I do) and never once complain about ride quality.

I think your comments are a bit premature, don't you? The E-92 looks to be a great car but it has already had its share of mixed reviews. This plus the fact that this time around the M3 will be up against some formidable competition - and for the first time to my recollection - suggests that this beast can be knocked off its perch. We'll have to wait and see, but should know in about a years time....
