It used to be like that. Now that I am no longer chasing every tenth on every lap and using the harnesses i found i dont get so tired anymore. Well except when driving in the rain, that saps all my energy.

I cannot emphasize how much it helps to stay very well hydrated and munch on small snacks (rather than a big meal).

Yeah I have the harnesses as well and it has helped. I also bring a cooler of poweraid and food every time but still end up mentally tired. It is better now that I'm more comfortable but as you chase lower and lower numbers you also raise the intensity level. Still no where near as beat up as I used to feel.

The best is when you start making friends at the track...and you learn you can just throw your gear in the car and show up...your friends will have a jack, tools, etc that you can use.

I know...I'm bad right?

that already happens but once you are changing wheels and pads you cant just expect to have use all day of someone elses tools. time is limited between sessions usually so gotta bring your own. car is pretty full with track tires, jack, cooler, and all the other tools. it is nice to make friends with people with heated trailers during these winter months.

I struggle to stay awake on way home (2 hr drive). I have had to pull into gas station to take power nap. Problem is that with fixed back racing seats I can't recline. I am thinking next time I'll put helmet and HANS on to keep my head from falling down when I sleep.

The key is to start hydrating the day before then maintain the day of. Just water, no Gatorade or sports drinks.

I have a bad habit of eating 2 burgers for lunch and then chase it with a stogie. I feel tired but my fastest session is usually right after lunch. Odd.

Bumming isn't a bad thing...it helps to pre-arrange things. I bring tools, my buddies bring drinks and other stuff. It works out.

I kid of course. I have actually never packed beers in my cooler but I have seen many guys drinking after the last session. It's actually the last thing I feel like doing at that point.

I cannot imagine doing it without throwing everything in the back of the truck and the car on the trailer. People can borrow my tools and jack though.
