Best valvetronic exhaust?
Hi all,
I'm currently running an active autowerke x pipe (catless) and active autowerke gen 1 rear section. It sounds incredible, but it is quite loud and I am getting ready to move into a townhome.. with attached garages. Looking to maybe get a valvetronic exhaust so I can still enjoy the sound but not have my neighbors hate me. Would appreciate any thoughts!

Seeing as you are happy with your current system, why don't you consider installing a set of vacuum operated valves like these to quieten things down as you leave/arrive home??

Evolve's valve system. Had it for years on my E93 and it has been amazing for years. I was sensitive to drone and no issues even with the top down.

I do have the full M3World valved exhaust system, with these very valves incorporated to the rear boxes/mufflers. If you have enough space on your current system, you should be able to weld them into place as they are on mine. From what I could see (based on a googled image of your setup), you should have enough pipe length to do it. It is amazing how much of a difference closing two outlets makes to quieten things down..... Just drive off from home (valves are closed on startup), get down the street and hit the remote. Bam!!! Full noise

This is excellent information. I think you are right, it would work with my setup since I have quite a lot of pipe length. Had no idea I'd be able to do this with my current system! Sounds like a lot less of a hassle. Are you able to change startup options - open vs. closed when you want? Or does it always start closed?

We had discontinued the Evolve E-Tronic exhaust but a few owners got together and asked us to do a production run as we still have the jig at Supersprint in Italy (they produce it for us). We have a couple of rear valved sections left over if anyone wants to buy one

I'm also curious. I'd love to have a valved exhaust that can pass Laguna Seca sound (<90dB measured ft. away) at full throttle uphill when in quiet mode, but also be decently loud and fun with valves fully opened. My current exhaust system (muffler swap only) just barely passes sound, but sometimes I'd like to be quieter on long drives.
It seems like all the systems out there are still quite loud in their "quiet" modes. |

A nice thing about the evolve, besides excellent build quality, is it does not lose hp in the quiet mode |

Are you thinking of LRP which had an 88 dB limit when I went back in ~2011? Love that track. If it passes LRP and they measure similarly.. should be good indeed!

Mont Tremblant and Pitt Race both have sound checks if I remember correctly. Or maybe it was Palmer? |

I’m part of the group buy that ordered the Evolve E-tronic exhaust. I should be getting it any day now and I’m super excited! The exhausts were ordered last November. Even though I have not heard it in person, all of the reviews are very positive. Plus I think the price was reasonable too.
I’ve listened to all the YouTube exhaust clips. At first I wanted the Dinan, then the Meisterschaft, then the Eisenmann and then finally settled on the Akra. I think the Akra is pricey but it’s a great exhaust. I’ve heard the Dinan and Akra in person. I thought the Dinan was too quiet. The Akra sounded great but I personally was looking for more of an exotic sound. The Akra had a nice deep tone that sounded awesome. I stumbled across the group buy post for the Evolve E-tronic, I did some more digging as I was not familiar with Evolve’s exhaust. I listened to more sound clips, did more research, and decided to pull the trigger on the E-tronic. I’m only getting the cat-back as I have to get it smogged for CA. I don’t want to mess with test pipes and CEL, at least for now. I think the E-tronic will be what I’m looking for. It’s engineered to not lose power when the valves are closed. To me, that seems the biggest draw-back on most of the other valved exhausts. I don’t want the exhaust too loud and definitely don’t want any drone as my car is my DD. So it’s good to hear some don’t think the Evolve is really loud even with the valves open. Last edited by pjk380; 02-27-2018 at 12:13 PM.. |
