My electronic oil level indicator is completely inaccurate, but not $225 bucks worth of inaccurate.

I'd pay twice that if it actually works and works reliably. I hate hate hate the electronic gauge.

Saw this a while back. I would do it if I bought an E90 M3.

Thought this thread title was a joke until I followed the link lol
Very cool find! I'll be doing this the first time I need to drop the oil pan for any other work. Thanks for the link. |

Thanks for the link. Finding an electronic "dipstick" was an ugly shock to an otherwise wonderful introduction to the world of M3's.

I have not experienced any problems with the factory oil level sensor or gauge, or those for coolant, gas, or oil temp. I'd probably be more interested in an oil pressure gauge (electric sender is fine) than a redundant mechanical oil level measuring device.

Can you tell us a little more...build quality, ease of fitting etc? Does it replace the electronic dipstick or is in addition to it?
Do you have any pics? I'm thinking of doing this and the rod bearing upgrade kit at the same time. Thanks |

^^ exactly. You can send your pan in or they tell you where you drill a hole. Get somebody to weld then it is just bolt together. It doesn't replace the electric dipstick, but since I can't use the electric dipstick this is my only option.
