Lock/Unlock "Beep"

OK, so I've combed my the manual and looked through every menu on iDrive and I see no option for audible confirmation (beep) of lock/unlock. This can't be right? I mean, a 328i parked next to me the other day and had it. What am I missing people?!?

Need to have the alarm option, if you don't see it in iDrive you probably didn't get it installed. You can check any of the VIN decoders online to see if you have pre-wiring, which makes installing it much easier (and practical)

BMWVin.com says I do not have the alarm feature or pre-wiring. Sounds like the solution is going to be pricey. Thanks for the info!

It's actually really not. Like $200 + coding, which I don't think is that bad. I thought about doing it, but spent the money elsewhere haha. The car is always at home covered or at work.

If you don't have pre-wiring you either have to a) do all the wiring yourself or b) pay the dealer to do it. The pricey part is that without pre-wiring it's a 5-8ish hour job for the sedan and more for the coupe because the instructions say to take down the headliner and all that other stuff.

But you are right, it's only about $200+coding if you have pre-wiring.

Not after 3/09 build if Alarm was not specified when ordered.

Al alternative would be the RemoteKEY+ module which can emulate tthe factory alarm, including mirror blink and confirmation door lock/unlock chirps

Hope this helps!

Yes, along with better headrests that tilt forward, matching head liner on sun visors vs. just plastic, drink cooler in arm rest console, and carry nets on the backs of seats vs. none at all. After '08, there are certainly some things BMW saw as cost cutting measures because not enough people would miss those features.

08 E90 M3s did not ship with carry nets on the front seats like the 328/335i. But they can be retrofitted.

Love the sunvisors, love the drink cooler, love the tilting headrests. Hate the iDrive.

Figures us E90 guys get screwed... even rear fold down seats were an option. Had to get cold weather package to get what the 08 E92s had.

Working on it. Already upgraded to the CIC controller, makes the CCC usable/bearable.

I just ordered my 2013 M3. What options does the OEM alarm 'beep' come under? There's no option for it when you build on bmwusa.com ?

Its part of the factory alarm. If you do not specify the alarm during the ordering process, it cannot be retrofitted at a later date.

That's what im wondering. If it comes stock, or is it part of a package like the convenience package or something.

I remember the sun visor war threads going, but my 2010 has matched sun visors, they aren't plastic. Is this a Euro vs American thing, I honestly can't remember. I do miss the nets on the back of the seats my 335i had, but honestly it's another excuse to cram junk papers in your car. I have enough trouble keeping the flip-out door pockets on the doors clean. lol

Seriously though, I never understood the cooled holder in the console with the little switch. I saw that as totally pointless aside from the slightly cool factor.
