I feel slightly embarrassed when I pass M3's on the highway that are going "way too fucking slow"

those of us that are mature enough to cruise at 70-75 on the highway and not cut people off while trying to act like speed racer really don't care about your embarrassment...

who me or you. you started with the dct talk. both are great and it would be nice to have a little lower rpm on the freeway. i dont drive crazy either just flipping shit. i save my high speed stuff for the track i use cruise control most times on the freeway to work.

This reminds me of several people I know who block up the left lane while self righteously babbling about the rules of the road.

Raywong,
Have you solved it? I have same problem like you. Hesitation, bumpiness, shaking all car body for a brief moment!!!!! But, it happens from 2,700rpm to 3,000rpm at only 7th gear sometimes. See the videos. See the 11sec and you will hear the sound. http://youtu.be/6Jh2yo-7WBQ It also dropped rpm little bit. http://youtu.be/s4iW8X7oR1w Last edited by uccf; 11-08-2011 at 03:05 PM.. |

sorry I haven't solved it yet. the spark plugs and the fuel filter were changed, not sure what else to do. but I have not driven another M3 so I can't say for sure if this is normal. maybe I am too afraid to find out.

My car just started doing this same thing (stuttering/hesitating) when accelerating between 1k and 2k RPM... I don't notice it a lot, since I don't accelerate between 1k and 2k very often, but everytime I do, I notice it. It was not like this before, I am certain. I have a 2008 with about 35k miles on it.... It has always had a little stutter/hesitation every once in a while when first starting when the engine is cold, but now it is doing it regardless of how cold/warm the engine is...
Possibly related to this:?? http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=230986 |

I'm pretty sure this happens because you guys are pressing the gas too lightly at lower rpms. I have a 2011 e92 with dct, and it used to happen to me until I realized it was due to the higher end torque. when you're in 1st or 2nd, dont lightly press the accelerator. hit the damn thing and you'll be fine. You can hit the accelerator without flying to 60, trust me (although you could get there rather quick if you wanted ).

Mybe it's giving it too much gas at too high a gear. too low revs. If you're gonna give it gas, downshift. I se you're not in D so it might be that, too much gas at too high a gear. If you want to go faster, switch down, don't just press the gas.

yes my car does this
I agree, this bucking and hestitation at low RPM is annoying when you are starting out from a standstill. A car with a motor this hi tech shouldn't act like it. BMW service says there is nothing wrong with it.

Yes it actually should. Its a high reving high strung motor that requires some special attention and skill to drive smoothly, especially when cold.
