Sali is certainly entitled to his opinion. From my experiences during my career there are few others that share Sali's opinion.

I am sure that nothing can be said in this forum to change Sali's opinion, so it is best thing to ignore him and he will move on.

I am fond of saying that you are unable to control the words and thoughts of others. You can only control your own reaction to the actions of others. How you react is a reflection of your character.

I have gotten at least seven speeding tickets and deserved two (get ticket while going over 82 mph in 65 zones is understandable and I prefer getting tickets in NJ as you could negotiate with prosecutor to pay bigger fine but drop speeding charges or reduce points).
Here is annoying story. I was helping a friend move after college graduation and I was driving a Dodge Caravan while he was following me in his car. We were caught speeding 10 mph over (55 in 45) while driving going downhill. Both got pulled over and were given tickets. Both decided to contest but the court dates were separate. My friend shows up and officer tells my friend that I had confessed to racing in a dodge caravan?? and there is no way he will win and if my friend confesses to speeding, he won't pursue racing charge (there was no racing ticket or charge). My friend gave up and just paid the speeding ticket.

Also, your fellow LE made a Nazi sounding comment which confirmed the stereotype.

Stealth///M forgot to mention another sweet deal for NYPD that one could retire around 45-50 and overtime like crazy during the last year of service and last years base+overtime pay becomes threshold for retirement salary.

I also receive a monthly disability payment from the VA from my service overseas, which by it itself pays for the M3. So realistically, my M3 is free...your tax dollars pay for it. Thanks!

On top of that, the M3 is a tax write off, for my business on the side.

So, cops make 150k a year, drive M3s and retire when they are 50?! I find this hard to believe.

Depends where you work, it's all relative to the cost of living. But yes, I'll be 47 when I'm eligible for retirement.

Today was fun. Had a gentlemen high on PCP try to hang onto a moving van as it drove by. I had the pleasure of holding his leg in place while the paramedics placed a splint from his hip to the toe. The van won.

Not generally but here you go

I work on Wall Street and I notice M6/740i's parked all day in no parking with NYPD badges on windshields.

In Yonkers, more than 100 retired police officers and firefighters are collecting pensions greater than their pay when they were working. One of the youngest, Hugo Tassone, retired at 44 with a base pay of about $74,000 a year. His pension is now $101,333 a year.

It’s what the system promised, said Mr. Tassone, now 47, adding that he did nothing wrong by adding lots of overtime to his base pay shortly before retiring. “I don’t understand how the working guy that held up their end of the bargain became the problem,” he said.

If you're looking for one of the reasons why Nassau County spends so much, start with police pay.

The average salary of a sworn police officer in Nassau last year was $107,000.

Cops receive free health care and up to five "blood days"—comp days for every time they donate blood. The total package, including fringe benefits and overtime, averages $202,400 per officer.

I like your honesty.

Do you have any more funny stories in NYC to lighten up the mood? Did you ever catch the topless lady walking around Union square (heard it is legal for women to be topless in nyc???)?

Your statement pisses me off. Thanks for serving our county. But at the same time your statement is a HUGE disrespect to other military VETS who were seriously injured and came home to disability payments that hardly help them keep a roof over there head and put food on the table for there wife and kids. You should honestly be ashamed of yourself.
