These posts stating the lower weight of the coupe make me laugh - 20 litres less fuel in the sedan and theyre the same, a fatter driver in the coupe and the weight difference is negligable.
The only reason to choose E92 over E90 is if you prefer the looks/image - fact.

too much debating over useless crap. The m3 coupe is based on a sedan chassis. Only reason its called a coupe is because its got two doors. Weight is negligible, the sedan is 24 pounds heavier than the coupe, to be exact. I drive a stripped E90. Anyone with an E92 with a sunroof and navigation is already around 35 pounds heavier than my e90. Wheelbase is virtually the same, so are almost every aspect of the dimensions. Except for the E90 being a tad bit wider due to it being a tad bit higher. Performance is also, virtually the same. The real comparison is between the E90/E92 vs E93.

SEDAN for the win.......... Cant get "busy" in the back seat of the coupe. Well at least not comfortably........ but I am sure some contortionist will chime in now and say it ain't so.

i dont have either, but i think at some frontward angles the sedan looks like it could be a wagon - kind of like how the is300 looked like a wagon at a slight angle off the front

agree. I don't really notice the sedan on the street at all, but I could tell the coupe right away. something about the sedan that blend in too much with the regular 3 series. i can't explain why though.

Sedan guys will love the sedan for its functionality, coupe guys will love it cause it has 2 doors and thats what sports cars are supposed to have, Thats why you bought em. Both owners will find reasons to justify their decision.

Agreed. I also feel the coupe somewhat has an armadillo (duck-like) long-ish tail since it is built on a sedan chassis. The pre-LCI sedan tail lights look very ordinary and somewhat cheap, which made the coupe look better overall, however.
The LCI sedan LED tail lights seal the deal as the best looking M3. The sedan looks short by 2 inches and far more athletic (wider by 1 inch as well). It has a very strong presence especially when I see one in silverstone 2. That is subjective, though. Performance and handling wise they are almost identical.

Performance is identical between the two. The driver seems to sit higher in the sedan but otherwise you couldn't tell which is which by driving them. Any performance differences are due to options and driver.
Differences as I see them: Coupe ------- + Larger doors, but they have the fold out door pockets + Has an inside light strip at top of doors + Only two can sit in the back. The center console comes all the way back from the front. + Nets in back of front seats + The "arm rest" is just a leather covered plug in the back + One covered compartment, one open compartment in back seat middle section + Carbon fiber roof -- slightly lower center of mass, looks cool with some colors + Hood has "///M3" stamped on inside (sedans may have this but the examples I've seen don't) + Armadillo styling standard, no extra cost Sedan ------- + Cheaper base price + Two more doors but doors are smaller, easier to operate (lighter, don't swing out as far) + More rear space + Three people (not big people) can sit in the back + Fold down rear seats not standard, an extra-cost option, or comes with ZCP + Rear "arm-rest" has cup-holders + Electric sunshade for rear window also comes with manual rear side-window sunshades, but costs more than equivalent option in coupe + Rear windows can be rolled down + Availability of a BMW accessory slide out trunk tray (although it may fit in coupe, it is not marketed as such and nobody can confirm if it fits in coupe or not) + Trunk is bigger (but I can't tell the difference in comparing them back to back; in fact, the coupe's trunk looks bigger to me) + Armadillo styling package not available Coupe is longer, not as wide and shorter than the sedan, but only by a couple of inches. Taillights are different. They share the same front end, chassis and engine. Cheers.

I had second thoughts about ordering a sedan, and then had more thoughts about SSII as the color of my choice. Nothing I could do once it was in production though. However, seeing the SSII sedan in person, it looks DANGEROUS! - as one of my co-workers put it! Love the color! As the old cliche goes, pictures don't do it justice! |
