There was guy next to me in line for the Apple Genius Bar last night with an iPhone 5. His phone had something rattling inside, he claimed it was the battery. I shook it a bit and it was pretty noticeable. Maybe that?

well, I ended up getting the Incase Slider case for my iPhone 5 in the interim. At least until something better gets released (hopefully next month sometime). So far I like the feel of it.

I got the SGP spigen crystal version and was super easy to put on...clarity is great, although the screen did get a little darker.

I don't have a back protector nor could I find one online yet. My guess is they're having an issue trying to fit it since the back aluminum is really not flush with the glass/plastic part

Always use them, and to me they are the best. Might have to replace it every 8 months, but they will send you a new one for free if need be, or if you have store by you that sells it, just go there and they will give you a new one.

Nah I looked up the battery problem, that is more of a thud when you shake the phone back and forth. Mine is more of a metallic rattle, you can hear it when it vibrates or if you tap the back

Wife's 5 is a rattler too. No sense trying to get it swapped now, since it seems pretty common. Her phone was direct-shipped from China in the second wave of pre-orders.

My 4 rattled slightly, my employee's 4 rattled slightly, my wife's 4 rattled slightly, my wife's 4s rattles the same and my 5 does as well.

Not sweating it.

I have been reading about all these issues about the iphone regarding QA and durability.

If my work did not already buy me one I would be looking at a lumia 920.

If apple doesn't get their act together I may move on.

Anyone else notice worse battery life than their previous phone. I went from a 4 to 4s and noticed battery life drained a bit faster. Now with the iPhone 5, I get even worse.

Off the charger at 6am. Battery at 40% by noon and dead at 3. Little to no web surfing. Reading a few emails and about 2 hours of talk time. GRRR.

I close apps every hour it seems. No avail.

This may reassure you about the durability. It's a drop test of the 5 vs. the Samsung GS3. The video is a little long and the guy is a little annoying, but the 5 was the clear winner for physical durability.

True, but you know the real question? Will it blend? As of yet, we don't really know.....

Serious question for you guys (i know you are apple people).

Why should i get the iPhone over the lumia 920? Seeing as i wont be able to get the 5 until around the same time as the lumia why not consider them both?

Ive had an android ever since the first one was released in the US. For me, its time for a change, so no more android.

Ive never been a huge apple fan but they do seem to work well based on others experiences. The lumia seems to be a much better phone, really not even close to me. But, apple is known to be pretty stable and has great support.

So, why should i get the 5? or should i get the lumia?

The apps. I think the Apple App Store is the largest of all of them. Yeah, there's a ton of crappy apps, but there are also a ton of good ones. Plus, since there will be nearly half a billion iOS devices sold by the end of next year, developers are concentrating on that platform.

How does the lumia seems to be a much better phone? Specs means nothing. The iPhone 5 trounced the stock Galaxy S3 in benchmarks, even though on paper it has half as many cores and a slower clock speed.

The build quality on the iPhone is generally much better than other phones, and the support is better too.

The word "innovative" comes to mind. Unproven yes, thats where apple has all of its points, for me at least. Im tired of android and apple just doesnt really seem interesting to me. The support and stability are the things that draw me to the iphone while the lumia seems so new and interesting. Unproven, but new.

I like integrated mobile platforms personally. What I mean by that is I have an iPad, iPhone and iCloud. I buy/download an app, and it goes to all my devices. I take a picture, and it appears on all my devices. I surf a webpage on my iPhone, and I can pull up that website on my iPad via the cloud. The wife also has an iPhone, and we created a shared "Family" calendar so we can keep track of what each has planned, as well as our kids' schedule. I'm sure other platforms have that same capability, but I'm not sure. I do know the Apple version works pretty damn well.

I do run a PC for a home computer though, so the integration between Outlook and Apple is pretty mediocre. There have been times after syncing that I've got 3 versions of my calendar in Outlook, and 2 on the iPhone. But that is pretty minor, and I rely on the iPhone as the main calendar.

So I'm pretty invested in the Apple platform. It's like choosing Canon or Nikon DSLRs. Once you have the expensive lenses, you stick with the brand for the camera bodies. Now, if you are just starting out, or aren't heavily invested into a certain platform (music, movies, apps, etc.), then changing it up is easy.

I think the Lumia 920 plus the new Surface tablet would be a great combo, as both are running Windows. I just have no idea how robust the App store for Microsoft is. I don't need a billion different apps, but I do need the ones I use the most. As far as I can tell, my most-used apps (productivity and games) are not available through Microsoft.

I also wish that Samsung and Nokia would use better materials in the body. I like aluminum and glass. Samsung and Nokia use "polycarbonate", which is really just fancy plastic.

As for which carrier, well I think they all suck, so that really shouldn't factor much into the decision to get an "exclusive" phone. Yes, some are stronger in certain markets, but given how long the technology has been around (I've had a cell phone since 1993), the level of coverage and network capacity is exceptionally weak. At a college football last Thursday, with 55,000 in the stands. My iPhone 4S had basically no service (5 bars, 4G indicated.) But the network was overloaded: no text, email, voice, data), although the wife's iPhone 5 did have service. The guy behind me on Verizon? Same deal, no service.

In the end, it boils down to what YOU like and want. No need for fanboi-ism, either Apple, Samsung, Nokia or other. They all have excellent features, strengths and weaknesses. Decide for yourself which best meets your needs, and that's your phone.
